L'ABRI
L'ABRI a French word meaning The Shelter is a product of planning, designing as well as construction and can be
defined as the basic architectural structure or building that provides cover.
Architecture is a civilization's way of giving form to itself. It is not only expressive of culture but actively participates
in shaping it. Architecture is society's most public and visible art; through it we profess our most cherished values,
patterns and skills. As a discipline, architecture has its roots both in art and science. It demands the love of precision,
geometry, and order as well as a passion for mystery, wonder, and the unknown. It has to go beyond boundaries, look
ahead of logics and reasoning and overcome criticism to reach the zeniths.
Whereas, an architect's role in the society is to respond to the surrounding environment in a positive manner and his
sole responsibility is to innovate. His work is a manifesto; its value transcends the immediate task of the structure at
hand. The main idea is to adopt what can be adopted according to the prevailing circumstances. In the architectural
profession, technical knowledge, management, and an understanding of business are as important as design.
Poornima University, conducting AUTUMN LEAVES 2013 wishes to introduce a Quiz Contest for the budding
architects, a mind sport event that will encourage enthusiasm of the participants. Students from North Zone of the
country will participate in L'ABRI, which will serve as a medium of assessment to measure their growth in
knowledge in the field of Architecture.
