Education
Sept. 2011 - Sept. 2012 MSc. Mathematics and Computational Science
University of Manchester
Distinction
Developed knowledge about the mathematics of computation including the Finite Element
method, Numerical Linear Algebra, Scientic Computing, Numerical Optimisation and Non-
linear ow.
Scientic Computing module was entirely coursework based where projects were written using
object oriented programming in C++. This helped me to greatly develop my programming
skills as well as meeting many project deadlines.
Completed a dissertation titled Seismic Imaging which investigated the mathematics behind
the various techniques of inverse imaging pertaining to seismology. The dissertation was
accompanied by code written in MATLAB and C++.
Sept. 2007 - June 2010 BSc. (Hons) Physics
University of Manchester
Second class, rst division honours (2:1)
Studied a variety of modules including Quantum Computing, Programming in C++, Physics
and Reality, Electromagnetism and Nonlinear Physics.
Programming Languages used throughout the course were MATLAB, C++ and LaTeX. This
gave me a good foundation in programming and sparked my interest in the area.
Compulsory lab module ran alongside examined modules which required regular written re-
ports and presentations carried out with a partner. This involved working well in a team to
carry out complex investigations and producing reports to a deadline.
2005 - 2007 Worcester Sixth Form College
A Level: Maths (A), Physics (A), Chemistry (B)
Employment & Experience
