Annabeth Won!
I strolled into the sword arena, smiling. It was Athena and Poseidons session and I was
ready to kick Percys butt. I spotted Percy on the platform, gritting his teeth and slashing
dummies to bits. I bit my lip to keep me from laughing, but a snicker snuck from my
mouth. Percy stopped and looked over. Curse his ADHD. However, he grinned and
strutted towards me.
Worried? He teased.
You looked pretty tense up there. Are you sure you can deal with me? I responded.
Oh yeah? Well get ready, because Im going to whoop you so hard, youre going to end
up in the canoe lake, he replied.
I cracked up at his stupid comeback and he playfully slapped my bottom with his sword.
Hey! I protested as the rest of the Athena cabin walked in. They were all trying not to
smile. Seeing Percy and i together made everyone happy, especially after Beckendorf
and Silena died. I took a deep breath and grinned at my cabin. Percy came up behind
me and put his arm around my shoulders.
A tournament, I said. Well pair everyone up first, and youll fight, then well do the
next people, and eventually, the championships.
Yeah, Percy added, and I rolled my eyes.
Okay, so everyone, listen up! I looked at my clipboard and listed partners. I was with
Malcolm, my second in command. He fought hard, but I eventually won. The
tournament kept on going and I won every single one. Finally, the championships came,
and I was going to fight Percy. Everyone was drinking cups of water, but I ordered
Percy not to, which made him pout, so I laughed and gave him a quick kiss. After the
quick break, Percy and I walked to the platform. I unsheathed my knife and he
uncapped his sword.
Ready? I jeered. Percy laughed.
I was born ready, he replied.
We charged each other and began to fight. I heard a few cheers from the crowd, but I
furrowed my eyebrows and focused. I sliced and jabbed, but Percy was always there
with a block. Soon we were both breathing heavily, and sweating hard. Somehow, we
ended up with our elbows slanted up, our faces inches apart, and our weapons pointing
down, forming an X. We both caught our breath and stared at each other, but stayed
stiff in the awkward position. Either one of us could take the pathway to glory, but we
both paused.
I cant do it, Percy whispered in disbelief. I smiled and whispered back without any
mercy,
Sorry, and I knocked his sword out of his hand. With a grudging smile, Percy
straightened and hugged me. They he turned to the Athena cabin and announced
May I present to you the winner of of the sword-fighting championships between the
Athena and Poseidon cabins, Annabeth Chase!
Somebody ran up and put a medal around my neck, and I beamed. I grasped Percys
hand, who squeezed mine, and when I looked at him, he shook his head, like he
couldnt believe I had the nerve to win. I laughed and boasted, just to rub it in,
I won!
