Technical expertise in Hydrogen
The Problem with
Hydrogen in Steelmaking
Hydrogen is found in the form of water that can be
present in the air, scrap, alloys, refractories and
furnace slag.
Hydrogen is easily and quickly absorbed into molten
steel.
Hydrogens high vapor pressure makes it very
detrimental in low quantities.
Hydrogen entrapped in steel can cause blowholes,
micro-cracks, embrittle the final product, and cause
Breakouts by reacting with mold powder.
