FORMER DEMOCRATIC STATE SENATE MAJORITY LEADER GLORIA
ROMERO ENDORSES SETH STODDER FOR STATE SENATE

Redondo Beach, CA Today, former Democratic State Senate Majority Leader Gloria Romero
officially announced her endorsement of Seth Stodder, the Independent No Party Preference (NPP)
candidate for the California State Senate, 26
th
District.

This race exemplifies why the voters enacted the Open Primary reform: to give us the opportunity to
park party politics at the door, and stand with independent leaders, like Seth, so that we can shake up our
politically paralyzed system. Seth represents the independence that is needed for us to be able to build
powerful cross-party coalitions to address our most pressing issues, such as fixing failing schools,
keeping jobs in California, and jumpstarting rainy day funds for the future, said Senator Romero.

A longtime Democrat, Gloria Romero represented East Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley in the State
Senate, serving as Majority Leader, Senate Democratic Chair, and Chair of the Senate Education
Committee, where she authored key legislation to reform Californias public education system.

When I was in the Senate, I fought to build ladders of opportunity for even the most underprivileged to
claim a piece of the American Dream, said Romero. As a State Senator, Seth Stodder will represent a
new generation of leaders capable and willing to resume that fight. He will bring together Democrats,
Republicans, and Independents around an agenda focused on rebuilding Californias ladders of
opportunity and reducing inequality through economic growth, fiscal discipline, and education reform.
He will also fight to make California a more inclusive society that protects immigrants rights, presses
for gender pay equity, supports LGBT rights and marriage equality, and makes sure no one gets left
behind, said Romero. Most importantly, he will put the needs of kidsnot adultsfirst in our
education system.
