REDUCING USE OF DOCTOR WAITING ROOMS INTRODUCTION Long waiting lines at the doctors is becoming a problem as this will affect the people in the waiting rooms. While patients are waiting in the lines, they may suffer from further injuries and catch viruses. Our solution is to create an application which can be used on smartphones; this app will allow users to immediately contact their doctor as well as receive information on when their estimated time is to go and see the doctor, without the inconvenience of being in the waiting room for a doctor to be free. 3. BUSINESS SECTION 3.1 Vision Our vision for this application designed for patients is that we will make getting an appointment with the doctor more convenient, focusing on reducing the use of waiting rooms or ridding the need for waiting rooms This will hopefully reduce the risk of diseases being spread to people around and also give someone in need of a doctor a more accurate estimate on when to arrive for their medical examination. 3.2 Industry Analysis: Health Technology Industry: Health related technology Force: High/Low: Justification: Buyer power: Low There will not be a lot of smartphone applications which are used to help people contact their doctor about their injuries and give them information directly from the app. Supplier power: Low Creating the application requires programmers. As Information Technology is one of the fastest growing industries, there are a lot of programmers available to choose from. Threat of new entrants: High The application is quite simple and does not require a programmer who has a lot knowledge and experience than any other programmers.

Other app developers may want to create their own health related application for smartphones if they see successful in our application, and they could do so easily. Threat of substitutes: Low People in need to see a doctor do not have a lot of choices other than contacting their local GP using either telephone or emailing. This application is specifically designed to be used by the patient and as well as the doctor, which is faster than using emails. Rivalry among existing competitors: Low Rivalry is low because there is not a lot of other applications which help in this way, there are a lot of programmers available when creating the app, and substitute applications are not common. Overall attractiveness of the industry: The health technology industry is attractive because it is stable, as a lot of people see the doctor when they are ill or need to have a check up. Most of the Five forces are low, however, so application based health technology may not become as popular. Fixed costs of creating and operating this application is low so it is not required that a large IT-based company creates health related applications for smartphones. 3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs This application will target anyone who needs to see the doctor (who also support the use of this application) and to the doctors themselves. Patients who spend more time in the GP waiting rooms are more likely to catch diseases from other patients who are likely present because they are ill. Patients may not have access to a computer or find it takes longer to send an email using their phone; the application makes contacing their doctor much faster. Doctors may work more efficiently because they can view their patients status and information about their reason for appointment and how serious the problem is.

3.4 The Product and Service If people have an application that allows easier and faster access when contacting their doctors and booking a time, they are more likely to use it because it is more convenient to them. This application allows them to book a time and gives them an estimated time to turn up; this is useful because it means they will not have to wait longer than they need to in the waiting room. The application will also target doctors because it give them a direct shortcut to contact their patients when the apps services. This saves time for the doctors and they may find it easier than using a PC to contact their patients.. 3.5 Suppliers and Partners Suppliers: Programmers who are employed to design and create this application. Their work is essential in creating application and distributing it to others for use because the application needs to be easy to use and has minimal to no problems when people are using it. Webdrive is a New Zealand based cloud server storage company, who offers cloud based technological services to businesses who need this type of storage technology. This company can help because information from our application should be stored in a secure place which is easily accessible. Partners: Health clinics are a partner because in order for this application to work, the clinic must have support for using this application before patients can use it to contact their receptionist and doctor and have access to the services which is built into the application which directly connects to the clinic. The Ministry of Health is a New Zealand government organisation whose main focus is to improve health in New Zealanders as well as health related services within New Zealand. They also fund hospitals and clinics. If they are partners, then they can promote our application and encourage clinics and hospitals to download and support the use of this

application. This will also get people who need to see a doctor to download the app as well, as many people have either an iOs or Android device. 3.6 Strategy: Cost Leadership The generic strategy for this application will be cost leadership; this is because the application is designed to be low cost, to mass distribute it to clinics around NZ it will become popular in assissting people who need to see a doctor. Updating and support for this application will operate fromrevenue generated from the clinic using the application and donations. This application is in a broad market, because many people already go and see the doctor regularly and is relevant to helping them when contacting their doctor. The overall strategy is therefore Cost Leadership. 3.7 Value Chain Activity: Research and Development The most important value chain activity for this business is Research and Development. R&D is very important to this application because a good amount of knowledge i s required. It needs to be useful to both the doctors and the patients; and not restrict them in any way if they need easy access for communication. The strategy for this project is cost leadership, and the main focus is to distri bute it to as many people as possibl e. Further devel opment within this application is necessary because it needs to be simple and easy to use. This requires R&D because programmers will be employed to improve the functionality and accessi bility of the appl ication, so that it appeals to everyone within the target market.

3.8 Business Processes APP DESIGNING PROCESS The first step to creating this app is to find and employ a phone application developer. They will work on this project with the assistance with the managers of this organisation. The next step is to test the application. If it does not work properly or has glitches, then further work is required. If the application works successfully, then it can be uploaded to the iOs and Android applications stores. 7 APPLICATION USAGE PROCESS The patient will launch our application. They can book a time at their clinic as well as communicate with their doctor through internet. If they choose to book an appointment, this will go to both the receptionist and the doctor, so they can give an estimate on the best time to turn up. From here, the user will receive updated information on estimated times if they have changed. Business Process Model 2:

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHI P MANAGEMENT SYSTEM People are likely to go to the same doctor for treatments or checkups. Maintaining a good relationship between doctors and their patients is vital because it encourages that person to come back to the same clinic if they prefer it over any other. This application gives fast access to patients statuses and contacting services. ENTERPRI SE RESOURCE PLANNING Storing data in the cloud and getting information out of it quickly is useful becaise it saves time for the clinic. An application which allows this type of access is helpful to a clinic, and an efficient data storage system makes it much easier for employees to access the data warehouse. TRANSACTION PROCESSI NG SYSTEM TPS systems is important because understanding how the process of information from the patient to the clinic is necessary ato ensure no data is lost/ corrupted.

CONCLUSION Long waiting lines are important; they need to be rid of or reduced because people find it inconvenient to spend too much time in one. This application will be useful because it reduced the need for them and offers faster and easier access when contacting their doctor or booking a time at the clinic. REFERENCES
