ARCHMERE TO IMPLEMENT TECH REFRESH OF 1:1 LAPTOP PROGRAM FOR NEXT FALL

(Claymont, DE) May 27, 2014: Archmere Academy is pleased to announce that it will
be issuing brand new 13-inch MacBook Airs to all returning and incoming students for
the start of the 2014-15 school year. Archmere launched the 1:1 Laptop Program in
fall of 2011, issuing at the time, new 13-inch MacBook Pro laptops.

Since its implementation, the 1:1 Laptop Program at Archmere has allowed the
Academy to broaden its curriculum to include interdisciplinary classes, promote more
independent and collaborative learning both in and outside the traditional classroom,
and offer new interactive learning resources for both teachers and students.

With the upcoming tech refresh, every Archmere student will have a 13-inch MacBook
Air running the latest operating system at a higher processing speed than the previous
Macbook Pros; the Air also weighs nearly two pounds less.

This upgrade is the next step in Archmere and Apple's decades long relationship,
says Director of Technology Mr. Carl Campion 76. Together we have worked to
provide our students and faculty with the best technology.

This past November, Apple recognized Archmere as an Apple Distinguished School
through the 2015 school year, for the schools successful implementation of the 1:1
Laptop Program and subsequent integration of technology in the classroom. The Apple
Distinguished School designation is reserved for programs that meet criteria for
innovation, leadership, and educational excellence, and demonstrate a clear vision of
exemplary learning environments. Archmere will be hosting Apples Education
Recognition Program school visits next fall.

As we adopt new technology, we also study thoughtfully the impact of these newest
innovations on effective teaching and learning strategies, says Archmere
Headmaster, Michael A. Marinelli, Ed.D., 76. Qualitative as well as quantitative
assessment of students' knowledge and skills, and how they have been enhanced
through technology, is key in measuring the effectiveness of our strategic vision for
education.
Archmeres vision for the school, set forth by its 2012 Strategic Plan, commits the
Academy to enhancing its exceptional academic tradition with 21
st
century best
practices for learning.
