PAHASARI DAM
BLOCK- MORAR DISTRICT-GWALIOR
a.Introduction Phesari dam is an earthen dam which is constructed across Mahuar river in 9 oct.1989 And its main purpose is to feed the water into sank river through P.S. canal. The sank river Discharges into Tigara dam(Reservoir) near Gwalior, from which water is supplied to the Gwalior metro city. The period of feeding water is July to September and it also fulfils the Irrigation requirement for Rabi crops in the command area. The total irrigated area in Kharif &Rabi is 1620Ha.
Phesari dam stores water from a catchment area of ....sq.Km. If the reservoir doesnt get filled from its own catchment, then it is additionally fed through kaketo-phesari canal until filled upto FRL.
b. Meeting with Engineer- in-charge at site. we met at site of canal lining of Phesari Sank canal with 1. Mr. S. K. Singh Sub. Divisional officer K.T.F.C. sub division No.-3 Rehant Gwalior 2. Mr. M.K. Shukla Sub Engineer W.R.D. Renhat Gwalior 3. Mr. Dinesh Pal singh Company Site Engineer 4. Mr. Mohan Jagudi Company Project manager 5. Mr. Abdhesh Company Sr. Supversior 6.Mr. Trilok Company Surveyror 7. Mr. Rajesh Gupta Company Plant operator
c. Name of company executing work Durga engineers and earth movers PVT.Ltd had got the tender of this project as per specifications of Water resources department as follows:- Length of concreting in canal repairing- Chainage 50 to 311 Duration of work- 18 months
d. Insitu physical status of work The work of removing silt & old concrete dismantling was being done in canal Mechanically and the preparation of Bed, slopes, also were being done mechanically.
Silt deposited in the bed was removed.this job was done after making survey i.e. Levelling of the canal section by auto- level upto specified chainage in the
form of L-section and cross-section by company engineer as well as Departmental Engineers and for one day we also participated in this work.
The work of concreting in canal:- First of all the Required M-20 concrete is prepared in batching plant by automatic Mixer (.5 M3 in each mixing). This mix concrete is loaded in a truck mounted mixer for transportation to the site carrying a full capacity of 5 Cubic meter volume. From this truck mounted mixer a 3-D machine(as shown in photograph) takes bucketful concrete and places this concrete in slopes and bed of the canal ,where skilled labourers and mesons spread it properly and compact. Curing is done on the lining work of previous days

GENERAL REPORT
1. INTRODUCTION:- The parsen village of morar block situated on bank
of river vaisali in Gwalior district. The area of parsen is mostly in flat tarren.there are less irrigation facilities onlysmall tanks of small bed cultivation ,tube wells are the main sources of irrigation ,and ground water tableis at very low level.
There of in view of above honble minister of water resources department ,Govt. Of M.P. pin pointed and suggested to find out the possibilities of irrigation facilities to cultivation and to rise the the ground water table of the area.
Hence feasibility survey of this tank is done and this scheme seems to be fesiable.the initial proposal was on the old breached site.the detail histry of that work was not found from any old record but breached spillway at two places and masonary core well in one k.m. are situated at site.the dam proposed with gated central spillway and small height of earth dam on both flanks with these provisions, the case administrative approval framed for the Rs. 543.04 lakhs inthe year 2005. In the initial construction stage of dam during inspection of S.E. ,C.E. foundation conditions are not seems to be feasible because of sthat the other site 1 k.m. in U/S selected for construction of dam and found more suitable than the previous site and work take up for construction. the 40% work of earth dam in right flank done and balance work of spillway and left earth dam with saddle in 585lenth is balance. In all above changes and due to change in rates of U.S.R. 2003 to U.S.R. of 2009. The cost of project is revised to Rs.999.95 lachs .hence the revised A.A is required.
2. ESTIMATED COST OF SCHEME:-
the revised cost of the project increases from Rs.543.04 to 999.95 lakhs
3. TOPOGRAPHY:- The topography of the area surrounding to the site selected is flat and very fertile land.
4.LOCATION OF PARSEN TANK:- The project is located on vaisali river near village parsen in morar block, Gwalior district at latitude 261830 and longitude 72200 and can be referred in topo sheet no.54 J/7. The parsen tank site can be approached by morar chittora road.the site is 25 k.m. from morar town.
5.HYDROLOGY:- Index map showing the catchments area to scale 2 c.m. to a 1 k.m. is enclosed. The total catchments area at the site is
360 sq. K.m. . the catchment area consist of 50% area forrest hillocks and 50% flat cultivated land.
5.1 RAINFALL:- There is no rainguage stations in catchment area, nearest rainguage station is at Gwalior which is 25 k.m. away from the site. A statement of rainfall 445 years is encloused i.e. from 1961 to 2005 . this data has been considered for calculation of yield . the max. And min. Rainfalls are given below.
5.2 YIELD:- The record of rainfall has been considered for working out the yield from the catchment. The river has not been gauged as such yield has been worked out as per Binnies table. The corresponding yield pre sq. Mile for 23-98 inches rainfall 75% dependable yield for 140 sq.miles works out to 1624.00 Mcft.
6. RESERVOIR:-
Dead and Live Storage: The L.S.L.has been fixed at R.L. 171.25 i.e. of canal sluice gates ,the dead storage capacity of tank will be 39.07 Mcft. The tank F.T.L. is proposed atR.L.172..75M the storage capacity of the tank at this level is 97.79mcft. out of which 58.72mcft Is the live capacity of the tank . the storage of tank only 3.61% of 75% dependable yield.
7 . DAM- DATA:- The total lanth of the tank bund will be 1357M out of which spillway portion of 158M lenth of central river course portion ,the balance. length will be of an earth dam in both flanks with following principle levels. 1.Lowest river bed R.L. 165.00m
2.L.S.L. R.L. 171.25m
3.F.T.L. R.L. 172.75m
4.M.W.L. R.L. 175.50M
5.T.B.L. R.L. 177.50 M
6.top width of masonary dam 3.50 m
7.Maximum height of dam 12.50m
8.EARTH DAM:- The earth dam proposed on both side of central spillway.the total lenth of earth dam is 1177m i.e. on left flank 90 m and on right flank 1087 m. The maximum height of earth dam is 6.50 m. The provision made for filter, puddle and bolder toe as per technical circulars guidelines.
9.SPILLWAY:-
The central oggie spillway is provided in the lenth of 1058 m with crest R.L.172.75m and M.W.L. R.L. 175.50m. the capacity of spillway is designed to pass 1620cumec flood discharge. The cathment area of the river upto this point is calculated
360sq.k.m. and the flood discharge works out by dickens formula. The horizontal apron is provided for energy dissipapion in full lenth of spillway.
10.COMMAND AREA:- The gross command area is proposed 786 ha. The area is 286ha is proposed for ravi and 500 ha.proposed under kharif threw canal off taking from high level sluice provide in saddle portion on the day of inspection by engineer in chief on 22 .09.2011 sufficient discharge to the tune of 526 cumec found in the river. This discharge can very well be diverted by providing high level sluice atF.T.L. in the saddle bund to irrigate 500hact. Of land during kharif. The live storage capacity of tank comes to 1.66mcum. it is proposed to irrigate 286hact. Of land Total submergence atF.T.L.(R.L.)172.75 is 168.72 Ha. Out of which 56.10 Ha. In the river portion i.e. govt. Land and the balance is of private landi.e.112.62hact.
