Description
Woodward has developed a Basic Governing
and Control Theory" Computer Based Training
(CBT) module on CD-ROM. The CBT includes
videos, animations, reviews, and quizzes to
illustrate and reinforce basic concepts and control
system functions. The CBT takes approximately
four hours to complete, and once completed,
provides an excellent source of reference material.
The CBT uses a variety of presentation modes to
enhance and enforce the learning experience.
Visual representation of each topic is displayed
along with text explaining each point. Videos and
animations are then used to activate functions and
in some cases, allow hands-on interaction between
the CBT and the user.

CBTs offer a wide range of advantages. A CBT
module has no instructor, doesn't need a
classroom, and doesn't require support people to
help schedule and process the training class. There
are no waiting lists to get into the class, and a class
does not need to be scheduled for new hires. The
CBT can be offered at any time and at any location
as long as a PC is available. The flexibility and
convenience of the CBT allow for a "J ust in Time"
and "J ust Enough" training experience.

Animations
Animations used in the CBT demonstrate principles that are not easily taught with static
pictures. As in the animation of the magnetic pickup shown above, interactive icons allow the
student to control the flow of the animation. Students can spend as much time as needed
with each portion of the training demonstration, and then move on to the next topic. Every
effort has been made to make this an enjoyable learning experience.




Quizzes
Reviews and quizzes are used to re-enforce learning and highlight key points. True/false,
multiple choice, and other interactive tools are introduced to make sure students understand
key information before they continue. This CBT is a great way to review governing
