A possible structure
Plan
1. Covering your initial objectives, procedures and instruments
(500 words, use the subheadings, it doesnt matter if you deviate from this initial
plan)
Research
1. Outline your main theme and 3 - 5 findings what are the distinctive features of
your area
(400 words approx paint a picture verbally, or include them)
2. Detailed summary of your secondary research
(700 words segment the material by sub-themes, or types of evidence
demography, industry, history, or government statistics, marketing surveys, etc)
3. Detailed summary of your primary research
(700 words again segment the material, you might do this by research method
interviews, questionnaires, analysis of social media, or type of respondent,
males, females, young, old, etc)
4. Conclusion what will the future bring for your area? what are the hopes,
aspirations and fears of its residents?
(200 words)
Evaluation, appendix and bibliography
Process
1. Explain your primary and secondary research methods. Explain each technique
you have used, offering at least one strength and one weakness. You should
detail your sampling methods for your primary and secondary research
(150 words)
2. Provide an overall evaluation of the research process considering how you might
improve your approach if you were to conduct the research again. In particular,
justify the reliability (did instruments consistently measure the same thing?) and
validity (did they measure what they claimed to measure), as well as the
efficiency (could you have got the same outcomes using fewer resources?)
3. (150 words)
4. How does your research demonstrate compliance with legal (such as privacy or
libel), or ethical issues (informed consent, anonymity, stereotyping)?
(150 words)
Outcomes
1. Consider if you fully met your research objectives. Did you answer the questions
you set yourself?
(200 words)
2. Were your conclusions valid given the quality of the evidence you presented?
(200 words)
Areas for further research
1. Consider any areas of interesting further research
(150 words)
Appendix
Include any research materials and instruments (survey questionnaire, prints outs from
social media)
