Type 0073 (Single Acting)

Description

Extrusion Gaps

A single acting piston seal, of asymmetric design. For

double acting pistons with a central support bush,
the seals can be used in a back to back
configuration.

When single acting piston seals, type 0073, are

fitted to a piston head that utilises a non-metallic
bearing band, then care must be taken that the
resulting extrusion gap between seal and bearing
band does not exceed the values stated in the size
range table.

Applications
The type 0073 piston seal can be used in a wide
range of applications. Because of its robust design
and the abrasion resistance of the polyurethane
material, from which it is manufactured, it is
favoured for more arduous applications such as mill
cylinders, construction and earth moving equipment.
For lighter duty applications, the compact type piston
seal with integral bearing rings is preferred.

Seals type 0073 normally require the use of a

fitting tool. These seals are marked s in the size
tables. It is possible to fit some seals by stretching
the seal into its housing, these seals are marked
g in the size tables.
Two values are given, for 200 bar and 400 bar, as
d2[200] and d2[400] respectively. When Metallic
bearings are used the recommended clearance
between bearing and cylinder wall is:

Lead in chamfers: to ease the introduction of the
piston seal into the cylinder bore the lead in chamfer
