SYLLABUS IN COLLEGE ALGEBRA

MISSION : The College is committed to produce graduates who will be equipped, knowledgeable, interactive and competent I the fast paced trends of technology
in the fields of computer, electronics and communications engineering.

VISION : The College envisions itself to produce graduates who will be skillful, analytical and experts in the areas of computer, electronics and
communications engineering, and which possess highly appreciated values.

I. COURSE CODE : MATH002
II. COURSE TITLE : COLLEGE ALGEBRA
III. PRE-REQUISITE : NONE
IV. CREDIT UNITS : 3 UNITS

V. COURSE DESCRIPTION : A course for college freshmen to enhance in basic problem solving skills. It is focuses on Algebraic expressions and equations;
solution sets of algebraic equations in one variable; linear, quadratic, polynomial of degree n, fractional, radical equations,
quadratic in form, exponential and logarithmic equations; decomposition of fractions into partial fractions; solution sets of systems
of linear equations involving up to three variables. Students are expected to operate and simplify algebraic expressions; determine
the solution sets of all types of algebraic equations, exponential and logarithmic equations; and inequalities, use the manipulative
and analytical skills acquired to solve word problems and identify the domain and range of a given relation/function.
VI. COURSE VALUES:
1. Develop cooperative learning; sharing and integration of ideas among others.
2. Appreciate the importance of mathematical concepts to daily lives.
3. Develop among themselves the virtues of cleanliness, patience, honesty and self-confidence.
