Our Story
In 1988, Dan Horon was a young fire protection engineer who decided to use AutoCAD to show fire
alarms on a floor plan. His idea was a stroke of innovation, imagination, and inspiration.
Horons invention immediately solved a whole host of problems. Before he introduced his software, it was
almost impossible to update and monitor fire-alarm systems as buildings were updated and remodeled.
Technicians and building managers were frustrated by alarm systems that combined hardware and
devices from multiple manufacturers most of which didnt communicate with each other, or work well in
combination. When alarms went off during tests, false alarms, or emergencies, security teams were
forced to analyze confusing numeric data, assess events on the fly, and create service records and
reports by hand.
Horon started selling the software by word of mouth, to customers who were serious about managing
their facilities. He developed a simple plug-and-play import function to get data from alarm systems and -
devices, as well as an intuitive drag-and-drop process for showing them on maps and floor plans.
For years, Horon sold the software as Cadgraphics. Todays version of the software, RescueLogic,
integrates fully with todays most popular fire, security, and building control systems.
Horon has also updated the software to work with each new generation of Windows. Today, RescueLogic
works with standard personal computers, laptops, touch screen computers, printers, local area networks,
and wireless networks.
Horon is an active member of the National Fire Protection Association, the organization that develops fire
safety codes and drafts federal, state, and municipal regulations for fire protection. Horon was the chair of
the NFPA Task Group on Circuits and Pathways when the chapter was added to NFPA 72. He still serves
on the NFPA Protected Premises Technical Committee, as well as the Technical Correlating Committee
Task Group on Networks.

Product Description
RescueLogic software makes it easy to monitor fire alarm systems, security systems, and building
controls from a standard personal computer and its been tried, tested, and proven to work by
customers all around the world.
RescueLogic collects data from fire safety systems, security systems, and building controls, and displays
that data in real time, in a single, streamlined interface. RescueLogic gives guards, dispatchers, and first
responders access to maps, floor plans, and automatically generated Take Action instructions.
Primary Markets
Cadgraphics is primarily marketed as a tool for fire safety, security, emergency response, and facility
management.
Base Software
Every RescueLogic software package includes three basic components:
Configuration Manager the tool used to configure a RescueLogic system
System Monitor the component that collects and interprets data from panels and devices
System Watch the interface used to monitor a site from a laptop or desktop computer
Add-On Packages
Users can enhance their RescueLogic system with these additional components:
Activity Reports to compile printable records and reports of alarms and status alerts
Mail Dispatcher to send automated email alerts when devices go into trouble or alarm
Announcer add voice messages and audible alerts to your RescueLogic system

Technical Details
Users start the installation process by importing their own CAD maps and floor plans, which serve as a
backdrop for the RescueLogic system. While almost every building manager has architects drawings of
their site, RescueLogic also works with other digital images, such as photos.
Next, installers use cables or wireless networks to connect their computers to fire panels and building
equipment. RescueLogic software collects data from those panels, and sends that information to a
RescueLogic database. The software automatically identifies every alarms, devices, and address number
in a system.
Once the database is generated, installers see list of the alarms and devices that report to each panel.
They decide what emergency messages and instructions should be associated with each type of device
smoke alarms, for example and then simply drag and drop those devices onto their maps and floor
plan. Depending on the number of alarms and devices in a system, setup usually takes just a few hours.
Installers and end users get an illustrated, step-by-step guide to setting up a RescueLogic system. Most
dont need training or support. Those who do ask for assistance with installation can usually be helped via
a short online meeting.
