three octave scale, all arpeggios, dominant/diminished sevenths, broken
thirds, chromatic scale, double stop scales and double stop chromatic scales
(in thirds, sixths, and eighths) are all listed in C Major together, followed by
the relative minor key. This allows for a comprehensive study and mastery of
one scale in a logical organization. Recommended for Advanced students.

Flor, Samuel. I Like to Play Scales for the Violin. Zapfs Music Stores, 1977

with their relative minor and all scales are in first position. The scales are
also listed with notated alternate rhythms and bowing. It also lists the basic
major scale patterns and designates the half and whole steps. An excellent
scale book for beginning students.

Hohmann, H.C. Practical Violin Method, Book IV. Edt, W.F. Ambrosio. Carl Fischer, n.d.
Contains short exercises that are designed to help students master shifting in
positions. This book uses a variety of rhythms to enable students to practice
shifting at different speed. Each position is introduced individually with
exercises and then contains songs incorporating shifting in that position for
further practice. Recommended for late beginner/early intermediate
students.

Hrimaly, J. Scale Studies for Violin. Carl Fischer, 1900
A book of scale studies which begins by introducing each scale with a

more like modes. The book then goes on to introduce major and minor scales
that begin with the first, and second fingers. Contains arpeggios and scales

intermediate students.
