SAP CRM INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

1. What is the difference between Campaign and Trade Promotion?

Campaigns are the ways and mediums which help in communication, increasing awareness,
increase sales and wide range of activities. It can be done through mailing
list, product promotions, tale calling etc. Meaning you are trying to reach your customers for
increasing customer base, entering new markets or increasing sales or product awareness.

Trade Promotion Management is an activity which is done with the help of your channel
partners. The check here is "trade", which means distributors, retailers, wholesalers, re-

Differences in Pricing in SAP CRM and SAP R/3

Functional Differences:

Function Condition Type in SAP R/3 Comments
Determination EK01, EK02 Connection is not supported in SAP CRM
Rebate processing BO01 to BO05 Rebate processing is not supported in SAP CRM
Down payment processing AZWR Down payment processing is not supported in SAP
CRM
Invoice lists RL00, MW15 Factoring discounts are not supported for invoice lists in SAP
CRM
Cost prices VPRS Cost prices only exist in SAP CRM if delivery-related SAP CRM Billing is
being used. In this case, the cost price is determined: Goods issue in the SAP R/3 OLTP
System reads the costs and transfers them to the billing due list in the SAP CRM System.
Expected customer price EDI1, EDI2 Expected customer price via EDI is not
supported in SAP CRM.

Differences in Condition Processing:

1. The source condition record cannot be displayed in SAP CRM for technical reasons, when
processing conditions in a transaction.

2. Unlike SAP R/3, SAP CRM recognizes several pricing transactions. This enables you to
compare pricing transactions. This can be useful after failed searches or price changes.

3. The pricing type cannot be predefined when starting a new pricing transaction in SAP
CRM.

11. What is the Role of a SAP CRM functional consultant?

A functional consultant evaluates the demands in talking with the customer's
representatives, transforms the essence into an abstract and algorithmic business model.
Hence, he identifies the use cases and transforms them into logical and technical views.

Then the main task starts: customizing the respective business area and making sure the
system reacts in the manner according to the constraints of the requested use case.

The consultant documents the settings and prepares proper guidelines that allow other
consultants to do further changes or repairs with due efforts.

The consultant takes care that proper training is given to the users and that the system is
usable, performing appropriately and the business flow is complete and correct.

During go live he assists the technical staff by testing the behavior of the system.

After go live he guarantees that the procedures remain usable and consistent in real live
situation and proposes enhancements.

The main duty of a consultant is to transfer external know-how to the client. It is not
manpower that counts but intelligence, understanding of processes, a feeling for defects and
general a common sense.

12. What is the Role of a Functional Consultant in an End To End Implementation?

Functional consultant is expected to generate knowledge about the current business process,
design current business flows, study current business processes and its complication, in all
we can say getting through with current business setup. Flow diagrams and DFD are
prepared, most of the time in Vision format, all this forms the part of AS IS document.

Everything configured has to be documented as per their categories in the form of
predefined templates, these have to be then approved by the team leads or who ever the
consultant is reporting to.

Mapping and GAP analysis is done for each module, I have seen people defining integration
after mapping, gap analysis and configuration is done, but as per my experience in
implementation, it is a simultaneous process.

Before starting configuring future business processes in SAP, the DFD/ERD are prepared, this
documentation is called TO BE, which can be also said as the result of mapping and gap
analysis.

13. End user manual and user training is also expected from Functional Consultants?

The project normally starts off with a Kick off meeting in which the team size, team
members, reporting system, responsibilities, duties, methodology, dates and schedules,
working hours which have been predecided are formally defined.

ASAP, it won't be possible for me to explain it here, but all I can tell you about it is that it is
SAP standard implementation methodology, which SAP prescribes but is not mandatory for
any company to follow, such as IBM follow some blue Methodology, some companies follow
typical SDLC steps, ASAP stands for Accerlated SAP, you can find all the steps on SAP site,
through google, reading it from there won't give you a great knowledge about ASAP but will
obviously get you to know the definitions of various term.

14. End user manual and user training is also expected from Functional Consultants.

The project normally starts off with a Kick off meeting in which the team size, team
members, reporting system, responsibilities, duties, methodology, dates and schedules,
working hours which have been predecided are formally defined.

15. How is CRM and R/3 differing from each other?

R/3 is an integration of different application suits. It has its own architecture and way fo
functioning. CRM is all about maintaining the relationship with a customer. It is supposed to
enhance the profit of the company or organization since the ultimate goal of any company is
profit. Therefore CRM is one step ahead for their goal achievements.

SAP R/3 is a 3 tier based client/ server based application. One layer is presentation layer
(Client) which interfaces with the end user. Second layer is application layer for all business -
specific requirements (Program), and third is database which contains all information and
records about the system, including transactional and configuration data.

SAP R/3 has been developed in it's own language called ABAP (Advanced business application
programming).

16. Advantages of CRM?

Using CRM, a business can:

Provide better customer service

Increase customer revenues

Discover new customers

Cross sell/Up Sell products more effectively

Help sales staff close deals faster

Make call centers more efficient

Simplify marketing and sales processes

17. The types of data CRM projects collect?

Responses to campaigns

Shipping and fulfillment dates

Sales and purchase data

Account information

Web registration data

Service and support records

Demographic data

Web sales data

18. What is the difference between standard backend version and enhanced back end version
of organization model?

The enhanced version allows for multiple assignments of a single object. As an example, in
R3, a sales group can be assigned to multiple sales offices. In the standard organization
model, this is not possible.

As SAP's CRM product has evolved, it has become more compatible with the R3 product.
Before CRM 4.0, it was not possible to assign an organization object to more than one
organizational object. This was a problem for many SAP customers because in R/3, it is
possible. So in 4.0 and after, SAP introduced the ability to handle multiple assignments and a
program to convert the org model to this structure.

So if your client has R/3 organization model that involves multiple assignments, you will need
the enhanced version.

19. Who creates the business partners? Is it an end user or a functional consultant?

It depends on specific situations and required functionalities. If you are talking about a
project mode where you as a consultant are customizing and developing, for example CRM
online, you might want to have a master data to test your configuration. In that case, you
probably will create some of your own master data simply to test everything you are
configuring (development system).

On a production system however, it is usually the end user who creates the master data,
such as business partners, products, etc.

The company however should decide if for example every sale should be able to create new
prospects/customers in the system, or if this should happen via a single point of entry (1
team responsible for creating and maintaining master data).

we would have to change the classification of the business partner (see tab page
classification hours) from prospect to customer.

Again, where you do it depends on your setup. Which system is leading (CRM or R/3) and
who are prospects or customers replicated from one system to the other.

20. What things to be used in Use of R/3 in CRM create conditions records for a marketing
campaign?

Maintain the "condition maintenance group" to include the condition type and table for
maintenance context CAMPAIGN

In R/3, designate that this condition type is maintained in CRM

21. What is the role of Deploying SAP CRM Projects. What is the implementation
tool/methodology that is generally used in deploying SAP CRM projects?

We can use the SAP Solution Manager as a customer platform for efficient implementation
and operation of SAP Solutions such as the mySAP Business Suite (CRM). It makes use of the
mentioned ASAP (key accelerated SAP implementation concepts).

The way I approach things is usually the following (supposing that the customer is
considering implementing SAP CRM):

1) First you analyze business requirements. What processes are being used? Are the
processes working in an optimal way?

2) What processes need to be improved? How can you improve them from a business
perspective?

3) Make AS-IS analysis of the current business process and designs the TO BE processes.

4) Translate the TO BE processes into system processes such as marketing and campaign
management, account and contact management, IC win or Webclient, complaint or case
management ...

5) Consider complexity, cost, added value, ease of use, user acceptation, implementation
time and budget, during the BLUEPRINT phase.

6) During the BLUEPRINT phase, it is likely that you do not know what SAP functionalities
within CRM are existing, and are best to implement. Therefore I usually do a lot of research
on different sources.

22. What is the system landscape design for CRM projects? What are the integration points
within CRM and with other systems?

The system landscape for CRM or any SAP Module usually looks like this:

A) Development system (here you do all customizing settings and developments).

B) QA (quality assurance system): for end user training and especially for unit testing and
integration testing purposes.

C) Productive system.

SAP CRM is for example usually integrated with a backbone SAP R/3 system. Integration in
this case happened via the CRM middleware. On both sides (R/3 = plug in and CRM you will
have a R/3 adapter).

For integration with BW there exists a BW Adapter. (In the CRM system, SAP delivers by the
way standard data sources that can be used by the BW system. They can be activated
(content) and replicated to the BW System for data analysis.

23. How to do Mapping CRM BP to R/3?

Use PIDE Track. You can map R/3 to CRM and vice versa.

24. How are actions used in marketing plan?

Every marketing plan will have a campaign . Actions gets
used there to execute the campaign. Actions triggers the
followup activities like creation of leads, email campaign etc.

25. Explain the difference you have identified in your client's business process before
implementing all the above and after implementing how is it?

Before, every every process like coordiantion of marketing/ sales / service does not exists.
Now after implementation of the solution, proper integration happened and helps in
effective communicaiton between all the stakeholdes of the business. proper communication
established between diffrent departments.

26. What is territory master data?
Territory master data is for a particular geographical area.
it could be product line realated or customer specific or a
combination of attributes.. generally it is defined at 4
levels:
Company Level
