Although the S-500 is not a moular console9 since itIs mounte on an uni=ue printe 3oar9 %e %ill tal-
a3out to the i88erent channels enominating them ;moules<9 3y custom o8 use in other console moels.
In spite o8 ha>ing an only circuit 3oar9 the replacement o8 the main 8aers is simple9 3ecause these are
not %ele to the 3oar 3ut that they are mounte to the chassis %ith scre%s.
All the I:O connectors are in the rear panel o8 the ca3inet. Cemem3er that a sa8e an 8ree on 8aults
operation epens o8 the %iring o8 the i88erent sources to the console9 reason %hy %e recommen you to
ta-e the time necessary to ma-e all connections %ith the greater care an al%ays using material o8 high
=uality. A goo solution is to ac=uire the complete ca3le set '-it Soliyne MB6-500(.

an #IB-" can 3e s%itche 3et%een 3alance 'J,-4( or un3alance 'CCA( inputs. See +a3le-" 8or
connectionIs etails. #IB-! moule can 3e s%itche to enter 8rom an CCA input '#IB-!( or a mini7ac- '1:E<(
calle #IB-4. +his input is recommene to connect a $C e=uippe %ith a non-pro8essional souncar.
0ach line moule has a gain control %hich a88ects 3oth inputs. 6ain controls compensate the input gain
8or the i88erences o8 the sources9 in orer to o3tain a same output le>el 8or e=ualIs 8aers positions.
Gollo%ing the actual engineer criteria9 the input impeance is 3igger than 10 NOhms ',riging inputs(. +his
is ae=uate to all current e=uipmentIs 'ec-s9 JA+9 Auicom9 Mini-isc9 CJ players9 etc.( ,ut i8 you nee
to aapt the impeance to &00 Ohms9 you must a a &E0 Ohms resistor insie the connector9 in parallel

>arning? Connect the power source to the console first, and then to the AC line, in order to avoid sparks on the connector.

On-air output is a tu3ular connector '"95 mm internal pin( that gi>es 1" VJC:0.!A %hen a mi-e 8aer is
opene. +he output returns to 0 >olts %hen the 8aer is completely close.
On-air signal is use 8or acti>ate a tally light %hich inicate to the spea-er or 7ournalist that the mi-es are on-
air. A goo an pro8essional solution is to ac=uire the Soliyne On-Air-#ight -it: a soli state isplay o8 3ig
si?e. Other option is to use a Stop light use in the cars9 or connect a relay to acti>ate another type o8 light.

+he connector J,-15 A)*-O)+ 'au1iliary outputs( has se>eral output signals:
&EC out!ut# ,alance stereo output. Any moule can 3e assigne to the C0C 3us. Cemem3er that %hen a
moule is assigne to the C0C 3us9 itIs isconnecte 8rom $6M 3us9 allo%s you to recoring this channel
%ithout to sen it on-air.
Un3alanced '), out!ut# gi>es the same signal that the main $6M output 3ut un3alance. )sually is use
8or recorings. In Auicom systems this output is connect to an input o8 the $C to recoring inter>ie%s9
sho%s9 etc.9 eliminating the use o8 cassettes or mini-iscs.
Send '), mono A.or e@ternal 23ridB# is use to connect an e1ternal hy3ri. +he mi1 sent is ;mi1-minus<
%ith respect to the input Hybrid Return o8 the S-5009 that is to say9 the signal that returns 8rom the e1ternal

All outputs are protecte against acciental short-circuits. 0ach heaphone output can manage up to !
heaphones 'in parallel(.
Muting system
+he output o8 the stuioIs louspea-ers is muted %hen you open a mi-e 8aer9 to a>oi signal loops. +he
program signal an the tal--3ac- orers %ill 3e listene in one channel o8 the heaphone. As %ell9 %hen
you pulse the tal--3ac- 3utton9 the COB+CO# louspea-ers are mute to not inter8ere %ith the
microphone o8 orers.

enter the console through the input channels9 that ampli8y them. +he signals o8 these channels are sent to
$6M output 'signal sent to the air( or C0C output '8or internal recoring(9 that are 3oth %ays that can cross
the signal to%ars the output connectors.

LINE moules can recei>e signal 8rom t%o stereo sources:

Connect any signal source to a #IB0 moule9 e.g. a CJ player9 an a couple o8 po%ere louspea-ers to
the COB+CO# MOB output. Also a microphone can 3e use9 to pro>e the 3eha>ior o8 the 05 an the
compressor. +o route a signal that enters a moule to the $6M output 'on-air(9 8ollo% the 8ollo%ing steps:
aB Select the corresponent input9 %here you ha>e connecte the CJ player 'CCA9 J,49 mini-7ac-(9
using #IB-1:,A#-1 or #IB-!:#IB-4 3uttons9 accoring to the moule use.
3B Assign $6M:C0C to the output F'),F.
3B Veri8y that the signal is present pressing the C)0 3utton. +he auio signal shoul 3e listene on the
