Common Traits and Personality of the Filipinos

Common Traits of the Filipinos

1. Hospitality
When we have unexpected visitors we always invite them to come in our
house and offer some food and drinks and for them not to get bored or out of
place we entertain them or share some stories.

2. Close Family Ties
In our family, my mother is the one who governs everything in our family
rather than my father. She is the one who handles their salaries of my father but
somehow shes giving some of it for my fathers personal needs. My mother is
our accountant, and a ruler in our family. I am the one who took laundries, house
hold choirs when my mom is not around. Lastly, my younger brother is the joker
in our family.

3. Respect for the Elders
My parents raised me into a well-mannered one. Every time I talk to the
elders I dont forget to say po and opo. I believe in the saying Respect begets
Respect.

4. Fatalistic
When the time comes that there are upcoming test and I dont know the first
thing to do because of hurriedness I probably say Bahala na.

5. Loyalty
I and my best friend are loyal to each other and that was proven already. Way
back on my high school days, me and my best friend were classmates since first
year high school. Every time that theres someone whos backstabbing to my
best friend and likewise we always defend each other because we are the one
who knows the true identity of each other.

6. Sensitive
I am a kind of person that doesnt want anybody to be hurt by my wrong
doings or by my words and likewise I dont want to be offended by the others
because I get easily hurt.

7. Indolent
When I was a high school student, I was very hard headed that theres a
situation that my parents was hurting me. I was very idle to do our household
choirs and every command of my mother I always ignoring it.

8. Lack of Initiative
Most of the Filipinos dont want a competition most especially in schools.
When I was on my high school days I remember that every time that we have an
activity or assignments we share it especially for those who do not have
assignments or for those who dont know what to do in the activity. That time,
we dont mind whos going to be the best among the rest but we mind for those
who are in need.

9. Curious
As a teenager, I was curious about everything that I dont experience at all
like why the other teens were drinking liquors, having a relationship into
opposite sex and that are some questions in my mind when the time comes that
I already experienced those because of my curiosity as a teen.

10. Individualistic
Every circle of friends there is always a situation where in some of my
friends are having a gap or disagreements and with that I dont want to be
involved in that situation most especially if I am not the one who has a problem
on it instead I must talk to my friends whos having a problem without favorable
sided for them to fix their disagreements because no matter what happens in the
end we are still friends.

11. Jealousy
Im a jealous person in a way that even my closest friend I dont want him
or her to spend time with the other people especially if I dont know the person
they interact with.

12. Regionalistic
We are Roman Catholic but we are not always attending Sunday masses
but it doesnt mean that we dont care anymore. There are some reasons why
we dont attend masses but still we believe in God.

13. Pakikisama
Every time that I meet a new people out of somewhere or if my friends has
a new friends, I easily join them and make friends to them without hesitations
but we should choose whos going to associate with because in our new
generation, some of them were not trustworthy.





Personality of the Filipinos

1. Manana Habit
I have this personality every time that Im very exhausted for example
today my professor told that we should research of something that is related to
our topic and has to be submitted next meeting and since Im tired I will set aside
that research and if Im not tired anymore that is the time that I will do it.

2. Ningas Cogon
When I have new things like clothes, bag, or shoes I always taking care of
every part on it but when the time comes that those things were fully used I set
aside all of those and but a new one.

3. Utang na Loob
My parents raised me very well. They are the one who provides
everything I need in school and my personal needs. I am so lucky that they are
my parents who fulfill our needs without hesitations unlike the other parents
who dont even care to their childs need thats why I have enormous oblige to
my parents.

4. Hiya
When I have to report in front of my classmates I always shake due to
nervousness and at the same time tentativeness because I am not expert in
terms of reporting or those activities that has to be oral.

5. Pervasive Sense of Inferiority
When we are having recitation in our classroom Im afraid to recite
because Im afraid that my answer is not correct and I dont have enough
confidence.

6. Leveling
During my high school days I have a classmate that time she is a smart
and almost perfect pupil. She got many awards because of her talents and
intelligence but many think that she is a self-centered person so my other
classmates sabotage her works and performance so that her grades will
become lower rather than her high grades before.

7. Subsistence
I experienced this when Im going to school and then Ive noticed that my
bag have a damage. But I still used it because I dont want to stress myself in
just a simple problem. Instead putting myself into anxiety I just set to my mind
that it is still usable and be relaxed.



8. Amoral Familism
During my childhood days, we are extended family though we are
extended my parents and my other relatives were helping to each other even in
the financial problems.

9. Concept of success and failure
The exam is tomorrow and I still not able to review other subjects except
Anatomy and Physiology subject. In that time I lose hope and just tell myself
that Im ready to fail. But of course there is one thing that I expected to help
me and that is suerte or good luck. I believe that even how hard you review
and if your destiny is to fail you cant do anything but to accept it.

10. Submissiveness
I think this is happening to me when there is a group activity in the class.
Even when I know what will be done to have a better output than the leader's
idea, I just stick to it because I dont want to hear that Im always against the
leaders decisions. I just want to follow because I know that our leader have
more confidence to express his or her idea.

11. Amor Propio
This was happened to me when I was on high school there were a lot of
rumors about me that I know that is not true. I dont mind it and even many
believe on rumors and many arguing me, I stand myself and walk head high. I
dont care what ever they say, I know what I am doing and I know that I have
a clear conscience.
