been confirmed to be present in Valley

is a potentially devastating insect that
can cause yield reductions up to 90%

conditions are wet springs with a rain

Hunt Roster Registration

Is Open Until July 15th

Hunters interested in participating this year in gamedamage hunts on private land, possible management seasons,
or potential management removals of elk to reduce the risk
of brucellosis transmission between elk and livestock can
register online with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks through
July 15.
Additionally, should opportunities emerge to offer
antlerless deer B licenses for use during the archery and
general seasons, those too would be awarded through the
Hunt Roster.

Prospective hunters must register for the Hunt Roster
online by July 15 at fwp.mt.gov. Click Hunt Roster.
Internet-based registration can be completed on personal
computers, at most public libraries, and at any FWP office.
To register, hunters will need their ALS number.
A final roster for use in game damage hunts, management
seasons and management removals, randomly generated
from all the online registrations, will be posted by Aug. 1 on
the FWP website.

Damage hunts and management seasons, if they occur,
could take place anytime from Aug. 15 through Feb. 15,
2015. Management removals for brucellosis risk mitigation
could take place after Feb.15, 2015.

Any deer B licenses allocated through the hunt roster
follow on a second randomization of names and would
not influence a hunters eligibility for game damage,
management seasons and management removals. Successful
hunters drawn for these B licenses would be directly notified
by FWP.

The 2014 Clarence and Charlotte Fuhrman

Memorial Scholarships have been awarded to Alaina
Cole and Brady Johnson. Each student will received
$1,500 for this years study, announced Ken Oster,
chairman of the Valley County Community Foundation,
which administers the scholarship.
The Fuhrmans, who farmed near Opheim,
established the scholarship to benefit graduates of
all Valley County high schools. This years recipients
exemplify the attributes the Fuhrmans set for recipients,
Oster said.

Cole is studying nursing at Montana State
University (MSU). She ranked among the top in her
Glasgow High School graduating class and was active in
sports and school clubs, serving as president of the Key
Club. At the university she remains active in intramural
sports and an an honor society.
A Hinsdale High School graduate, Johnson is a
junior at MSU studying animal science. As in high
school, his participation in ag-related organizations
continues now. His goal is to return to his familys
ranch following a span of time working elsewhere in an
agriculture related field.
The Fuhrman Memorial Scholarships are given
annually and applications for 2015 will be available next
spring. Notice of the due date is given through the VCCF
website, www.valleycountycf.net, local media and high
school guidance counselors. Among the requirements
for the scholarship are completion of at least one year of
study beyond the high school level and a 2.8 scholastic
average.
