Lab Setup Guide Overview Introduction This Lab Setup Guide provides directions for installing, preparing, and verifying the lab hardware and software for conducting the Sterling B2B Integrator Fundamentals (6T611) course. The Requirements sections of this document provides details on specific hardware and software that are required to conduct this class. Purpose The purpose of this lab setup guide is to assist the classroom preparer in setting up the 6T611 Sterling B2B Integrator lab environment. Lab Setup Guide Overview (Continued) Target Audience for the Lab Setup Guide This Lab Setup Guide is intended for Training Coordinator, Classroom Preparer, and Instructors, who play defined roles in setting up training environments, testing access and ensuring connectivity before a training session. n Role of Training Coordinator: Choose and allocate training venue. Ensure that student guides and instructor guides are sent for printing ahead of the training schedule. Raise request for Central Lab Platform (CLP) and confirm the availability of CLP to the Classroom Preparer. n Role of Classroom Preparer: Ensure that classroom has the required number of workstations/laptops. Ensure that the workstations/ laptops meet the hardware and software requirements that are specified for the course image. Ensure that Citrix web clients are installed in each workstation/laptop to access the image through Central Lab Platform (CLP). Ensure that student guides and instructor guides are available in appropriate quantity. n Role of the Instructor: Test the course image to ensure that it is working as expected. Check with training coordinator to ensure that user IDs and passwords are created as per the requirements (includes one set for the instructor as well). Ensure that the virtual machines, which have the course images installed are accessible by using the credentials provided. Requesting for a CLP Lab Environment CLP Lab Environment Request If the memory requirement of a course image is greater than 4 GB, then the training coordinator decides to raise a CLP request for remote hosting of the course image. Procedure for Requesting for a CLP Lab Environment The following steps might be used to place a request for a CLP Environment: 1. Log on to http://clp.mop.fr.ibm.com/wps/portal with your IBM intranet user name and Password. 2. The following screen is displayed after a successful login. In the Lab Equipment Resource Booking tab in the left navigation panel, select the appropriate request. Select either Request resource for a TA class or Request resource for a non-TA class. 4. Selecting either of the two options opens a form to enter the course-related information. 5. Enter the required information such as Course details, Class Details, Instructor name, Number of students and Class Dates. 6. Click Request to submit the form. 7. After the booking is confirmed, an email is sent to the Instructor and the training coordinator about the booking made. The following details are included in the mail: a. The user name and passwords for all the students and the instructor to access the CLP Lab environment. The Instructor will inform the students about their login user names and passwords. b. The type of connection that needs to be set up to access the resources from the CLP. The recommended option is Citrix connection. The Citrix connection must be set up to Montpellier, France. If a Citrix connection is not already configured in the workstation/laptop, instructions on how to set it up are available in the appendix. c. The Lab Environment details (The virtual machines used for the class and their credentials). d. Help desk details to be contacted in case of any issues. Important! n In order to set up a Citrix connection, the Citrix web client needs to be installed in each workstation/laptop. n Procedures to download and install the Citrix web clients can be found in the appendix. Installing the Citrix Web Client Citrix Web Client The Citrix web client is an easy-to-install client software that allows to access enterprise data, applications, and desktops from any computing device including smart-phones, tablets, and PCs. A Citrix web client must be installed on each computer that will be used for Citrix Access. Citrix Access Requirements The workstations/laptops to be used for the class, must meet the following hardware and software requirements: n Minimum of 256 MB of memory n Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit edition) n Internet Explorer 6 through 9 or Firefox 1.x through 5.x1(even though 64-bit browsers can work, it is recommended to use the 32-bit edition) n 128-bit encryption n Citrix web client n A web browser connection to https://elabgateway.moppssc.com on port 443 (https). n Proxy rules that permit Citrix web client access to elabgateway.moppssc.com by using ICA/SSL packets. Incompatible Network Configurations The following network configurations will not work with Citrix Access: n Dialup connections. n Proxy Automatic Configuration (PAC) scripts that are loaded on the local machine (By using file:// under Use automatic configuration script in Internet Explorers Local Area Network (LAN) Settings). Use a PAC script on a web server (by using http://) instead. Open a browser and connect to https://elabgateway.moppssc.com. 2. The login prompt appears as shown in the following figure. 3. Log on with the user ID elab and password passw0rd (with a zero). 4. If the system invites you to install a plug-in, check the Citrix License Agreement box and click Install, otherwise your web browser is ready. 5. Choose to save the file in My Documents folder. 6. At the end of the download, open the My Documents folder and launch the setup program that you have saved.
