Business Owners Policy (BOP)

Designed for smaller commercial accounts, a Business Owners Policy (BOP) bundles
several popular coverage features into a single, comprehensive, affordable insurance
policy. Unlike the Commercial Package Policy (CPP), which is appropriate for more
complex accounts or when customers prefer to choose specific coverage features and
limits, the Business Owners Policy is streamlined for convenient one-stop shopping.
Typical coverage features for a Business Owners Policy include:
Property insurance coverage for your building and contents, including equipment
and inventory
General liability standard $1M/$2M individual/aggregate limits
Business interruption (actual loss sustained) loss of income coverage for up to 12
months
Employment Practices Liability Insurance including coverage for third party liability
Equipment breakdown covers damage to mechanical and electric equipment (i.e.,
refrigeration units, boilers, compressors, air conditioning units, communications
equipment, copiers, computers, shop equipment, etc.) resulting from power surges,
electrical arcing, mechanical breakdown, boiler malfunction and operator error. Most
property policies exclude losses from electrical or mechanical breakdown. Equipment
breakdown coverage closes this potential coverage gap.
Extended Replacement Cost Endorsement provides an extra cushion of 25 percent
on your policy limits
Extended Coverage Endorsement additional coverage features such as Employee
Dishonesty, Outdoor Property and Signs, Personal Property of Others, Building
Ordinance or Law, and Water Backup/Sump Overflow all for a nominal fee
Professional liability coverage for service businesses such as funeral homes,
veterinarians, printers, opticians, barbers and beauticians
Generally speaking, the types of businesses that purchase a Business Owners Policy
include:
Offices professional offices, medical offices, lessors risk only
Restaurants quick service, fast casual, and family dining
Retail stores from bakeries and beverage stores to clothing and specialty shops
Service businesses barber shops, photographers, laundromats and the like
Self-storage facilities
Hotels/Motels those with limited services
Small apartment buildings
Condominiums
Commercial Package Policy (CPP)
Millers Commercial Package Policy (CPP) is a workhorse policy form that can be
configured to fit just about any business need. Unlike the Business Owners Policy form, a
Commercial Package Policy allows the customer to choose specific coverage options and
limits of insurance. So, if you need extra property coverage for a large building, but your
liability needs are limited, weve got you covered. Or, if you need extra protection for loss of
business income, but you dont have a big building to insure, we can help you with that as
well.
Simply put, a Commercial Package Policy provides more of what you need, less of what
you dont.
Typical coverage features for a Commercial Package Policy include:
Buildings and business personal property
General liability
Equipment breakdown covers damage to mechanical and electric equipment (i.e.,
refrigeration units, boilers, compressors, air conditioning units, communications
equipment, copiers, computers, shop equipment, etc.) resulting from power surges,
electrical arcing, mechanical breakdown, boiler malfunction and operator error. Most
property policies exclude losses from electrical or mechanical breakdown. Equipment
breakdown coverage closes this potential coverage gap.
Business interruption covers loss of business income and extra expense due to a
covered loss
Utility service interruption covers property damage and lost income/extra expense
resulting from an off-premises disruption in the supply of power, gas, water or
communication, when the disruption is caused by a covered peril (i.e., a fire at the
utility generating station that serves your property)
Inland marine
Crime covers money and securities fraud, employee theft, etc.

on your policy limits
Extended Coverage Endorsement additional coverage features such as Backup of
Sewers and Drains, Off Premises Utility Interruption, EDP, Employee Dishonesty, and
Ordinance or Law all for a nominal fee

purchase a Commercial Package Policy. Examples include:
Apartments
Car washes
Furniture stores

Commercial Umbrella
Umbrella Liability coverage provides an additional layer of protection for liability claims that
exceed the limits of your general liability, commercial auto, and employment practices
liability policies. (Umbrella Liability coverage is sometimes referred to as Excess Liability.)
For example, if you have a Business Owners Policy with a $1 million policy limit for general
liability, and a covered claim is settled for $1.5 million, your Business Owners Policy will pay
for the first $1 million of the claim and your Umbrella Policy will cover the additional
$500,000 (less your deductible or self-insured retention, if any). Without Umbrella coverage,
you are responsible for damages that exceed the limits of your primary policy.
Umbrella coverage is not a substitute for adequate insurance coverage on your primary
policy, but it does provide affordable protection against catastrophic losses by picking up
where your other policies end.
Millers Mutual offers Umbrella limits up to $10 million and premiums start as low as $400 for
$1 million of coverage.
