Vision:

 Formation of collective awareness


regarding the potential use of media and
communication for local community
development towards an active
participation and reappropriation of
people’s own culture.
 Creation of an open space for people to
become critically aware and to articulate,
own or reject the values and meanings as
mediated by the media.
Mission:

1. To advance the role of media and


communication in all aspects of local
community life via formation of key-
leaders.

2. To create, provide venues and support


for people who are affected by media.

3. To guide and shape the orientation of


media practitioners in line with the
vision.
Goals::
Goals

General: To refine the Titus Brandsma


Media Program in the light of the vision
and mission and the needs of its
clientele, namely, the media
practitioners, key-leaders of parishes
and communities, formands and
formators.
Specific:

1. To do networking among media practitioners


(of print, broadcast industry, media-related
groups and organizations) on the basis of
TBC VMG and Programs.
2. To engage in activities where the clientele,
esp. media practitioners, could look deeper
into the ethical and spiritual dimensions of
their work and life.
3. To prepare the ground for counseling
services to media outfits
4. To engage in media education among key
leaders of parishes and communities,
formands and formators and to enhance
their sensitivity in understanding the
language, technique and culture of media
and communication.
5. To further develop the media and video
library of TBC Media Office.
6. To continue with the research on the impact
of media and communication in selected
BCC areas.
7. To improve competence and develop
personnel in TBC Media Program.
Programs…
Film dialogue – a regular activity every 2nd Saturday of the
month, billed pelikula@titusbrandsma at the Titus Brandsma
Center in Manila. Our attendees call themselves “titusians.”
The group often features foreign language/art films, and
supports independent Filipino filmmakers by showing their short
films in the regular sessions.

Research – an on-going program to document and study the trends


and issues of Philippine Media. A finished project was a series of in-
depth interviews with key players in the media industry – owners,
programmers, advertising agencies, media organizations, media
professors, and mepersonalities – “The Philippine Media Trends,
Issues and Needs” published in year 2000. Soon to be released is a
study on the impact of media in selected urban and rural
communities in the Philippines.
Programs…
Media Literacy Education – conducts a series of trainings and
workshop in Carmelite communities, parishes and
schools in Visayas and Mindanao.

Award--Philippines – bi-annual project that gives


Titus Brandsma Award
recognition to outstanding Print and Broadcast
Journalists in the country. It is our local version of the
International Titus Brandsma Award given by Union
Catholique Internationale dela Presse (UCIP).

Media Resource Center – maintenance of mini film/book library


with references/materials on Church and Media, foreign
language/art films and more.
 Networking – maintains a network of Catholic (church),
secular and professional media practitioners and
communicators.
TBCMP is a member of:

merged)

 PCCNET – Philippine Church Communicators’ Network
 PAME – Philippine Association for Media Education
