Thank you for evincing interest in IIIT,
Bhubaneswar. IIITBH is a next generation
Institute engaged in research and imparting
education in Information Technology. Our
objective is to prepare students to provide
technology leadership for the next
generations. To achieve this end, the Institute
focuses on its people, processes and its
products. The curriculum is designed to
explain, enable and empower students create
and use technology efficiently. The pedagogy
is designed to create a community of learners. Our faculty is responsible for the
excellence of our programme. In the class room, you encounter researchers,
scholars, consultants, and above all, gifted and dedicated teachers. These are
individuals who love teaching and do it extremely well.
You can expect a few things at IIIT, Bhubaneswar. You will encounter a caring
environment which will groom budding technologists into professional. We will
provide two best years of your life with memories to cherish. We will rekindle the
spirit of an adventurer in you.

About IIIT
IIIT Bhubaneswar owes its origins to the initiative of
the Government Orissa. It is a result of the desire of
the Government to establish a world class institute
of Information Technology in the state. The Institute
has been registered as a society in 2006. The
Management of the institute is in the hands of a
Governing Board, consisting of representatives from
the Government of Orissa, Leaders from the IT
industry and eminent educationists.
IIITBhubaneswar will focus on quality and rigorous
education, quality resource, academic
infrastructure, technology and innovation. These
initiatives will help IIITBhubaneswar achieve pre
eminence in India and beyond.
Vision
Our vision is to be a unique institute imparting education, training, research, and
consulting in technology and related fields to develop human resources who will
lead the economy and the society in the coming decades.
Mission
The mission of IIIT is to be a knowledge
seeking Institution of higher learning that
will educate students in technology and
other disciplines of scholarship. The
Institute will work closely with the Industry
and other users of the technology to develop
and deliver technological solutions to
enhance their competitive position.
The Institute is committed to the entire
value chain of knowledge creation, diffusion
and preservation to meet the challenges of
the century. The Institute will borrow best practices in education delivery systems,
research and consulting practices. Leveraging technology to bring about next
generation of practices will be a key to this strategy.
The Institute is dedicated to creating a community of students, faculty and scholars
with passion for learning, creativity, innovation in all aspects of academic pursuit.

Academics
Our M. Tech programme is approved by All India Council of Technical Education
(AICTE). IIITBH is an autonomous Institute affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of
Technology (BPUT) 1 . The degree will be provided by BPUT. IIITBH will retain
autonomy in curriculum design, evaluation and other aspects.
IIITBH offers M.Tech programme in Computer Science and Engineering. The
objective of this programme is to develop professionals suitable for higher needs of
the Industry and Academics. The programme aims to develop problem solving
skills, learnability, multiskilling and multitasking abilities and spirit of enquiry and
adventure. Besides, this programme also emphasizes on collaboration and
teamwork, human relation skills and attitude.
The programme is divided into four semesters. The first three semesters will
involve class room teaching, labs, incourse projects. The last Semester will be used
for an independent project or incompany internship. Normally the academic
session will begin in August. However, the 200708 sessions will begin in January
2008 and expected to be completed by June 2009. Since the academic
programmes is delayed, the holidays and vacations may be compromised to ensure
timely completion of the programme.
The curriculum consists of 12 core subjects and 6 electives. The core subjects
expose the students to all the broad and emerging areas of computer science and
engineering. These subjects include topics from classical computer science to
emerging technologies. In addition, they include subjects which expose you to the
business processes and communication abilities. The electives are designed to offer
the students a choice list of subjects of higher order to expand their interest. The
electives evolve with the newer technologies and development in the Industry.
There are a few things special about our curriculum. Each course will involve lab
components, tutorial components and incourse project components. The courses
involve team work in projects, assignments and other learning components which is
an integral part of the learning approach.
The degree will be awarded to students who successfully complete the required
credits.

Admission
How to Apply:
1. Visit the website www.iiitbh.in to apply on line for the M.Tech (Computer
Science & Engineering) Programme. Please note that only online application is
accepted.
· Carefully fill in all the relevant fields of the blank application form.
· The password entered in the password field should be carefully preserved by
you. You shall need it for subsequent steps.
· Submit the form by clicking the button “Submit”. On successful submission,
the next screen shall display your application ID and password. You will
need this information for subsequent log in to do any or more of the
following:
· Edit your application and resubmit if required.
· Generate the application in pdf format and print it.
· Verify the status of the receipt of the draft by IIIT, Bhubaneswar.
· Print your admit cards.
· To view important announcements regarding the admission process.
2. You are required to send the following by speed post/hand delivery so as to
reach IIIT, Bhubaneswar latest by 12 Jan 2008.
· Printed copy of the application form submitted on line
· A recent passport size photograph, pasted on the application form.
· The draft/pay order of Rs.1000.00 (Rupees one thousand only) favouring
“IIIT Bhubaneswar” drawn by any scheduled bank payable at
Bhubaneswar. (Please write your name and application id on the back of the
draft)
3. You can verify the receipt of the draft by IIIT, Bhubaneswar in the website as
mentioned at point No.1 above.
4. You can print your admit card to the entrance examination, once your draft has
been received by IIIT, Bhubaneswar. You are required to paste your photograph
in the space provided in the admit card and bring the same for the entrance test.
(You shall paste the copy of the photograph already sent along with the copy of
the on line application form).

Entrance test:
The entrance test shall be conducted in two places : Bhubaneswar and Kolkata.
The exact venue, date & time shall be sent to you by email. The same information
shall also be available to you in the website.
Interview:
Based on the performance in the entrance test, shortlisted candidates will be called
for interview at Bhubaneswar.

shall also be available to you in the website.
Final Selection:
The final selection shall be based on the candidates’ performance in the following:
· Performance in the Entrance Test.
· Performance in the interview.
· Career Marks.
The selected candidates shall be informed by mail. The same information shall also
be available to you in the website.
Admission:
Candidates, who are selected for admission, must indicate their acceptance of the
admission offer and all related conditions by paying the first installment of fees as
detailed in the offer of admission, before the date mentioned therein.
The programme is expected to begin by last week of January 08. At this time, the
students will be given a manual of policies and regulations, which will be binding
on them.

Tuition 2 , Aid and Scholarships
The tuition for the M. Tech (CSE) programme is Rs. 50000 / per semester and to
be paid before the start of each semester. In addition, students availing hostel
facilities will be charged extra for lodging and boarding. Other expenses for books,
supplies, travel; notebook PC etc. is to be borne by individual students.
Bank loans are available in generous terms that cover all the costs for completing
the programme.
A few students will be awarded scholarships and assistantships in the second year
of the programme based on their academic performance in the first year.

Resources and Infrastructure
The Campus
The Institute has been allotted 23.5 acres of land in Gothpatna in the outskirts of
Bhubaneswar. The construction work at the campus is underway. The campus is
expected to be completed by 2009. The campus will be a modern campus imbibing
traditional philosophies of education and learning. Apart from offices, classrooms,
laboratories, student dormitories, guesthouse, the campus will have playing fields,
games, auditorium and space for the community to interact and share.
Currently, IIIT will operate from OCAC building situated in the heart of
Bhubaneswar. The current facilities include classrooms, laboratories, library, board
room, gym, playing facilities. The facilities conform to high standard needed by an
Institute of repute.
Library
For a Knowledge based organization, Library is a vital asset. The IIIT Library which
is only a few months old, has excellent collection of books and journals on
Technology, Management, and related subjects. The collections also include
working papers, audiovisual resources, dissertations, summer projects, annual
reports of corporate houses and bound volumes of periodicals. Besides the print
materials, IIIT Library has subscribed to various e resources. Some of the notable
eresources available are all publications of IEEE Computer Society and ACM
Digital Library. In addition, the Library has a good collection of ebooks.
Computing Facilities
The Information Technology infrastructure is a significant factor in providing
quality education. Being an Information Technology Institute, we aspire to provide
the IT infrastructure which will empower and inspire to students to innovate and
invent. IIIT will be a technology playground imbibing the garage culture which had
and continues to create great technologies and products. Each member of IIIT will
have access to a computer and the Internet. The Institute provides notebook PC to
all faculty members. All the students will be required to have their own personal
Notebook PCs. Computer LAB has about 32 workstations, and Library will have 10
workstations. All the computers are connected to the Campus LAN. In addition,
wireless hotspots are spread all across the campus making it possible to remain
connected anywhere in the campus, all the time. The classrooms are equipped with
PCs, Tablet PCs, LCD projectors and multimedia Systems. All members on the
intranet have access to internet 24 hours a day, through 1 MBPS TCP/IP leased
lines. The Institute has built an impressive library of software packages useful for
IT education. These include Compilers, Office Productivity software, Data Base,
Statistics, Operations Research, Graphics etc.

Placement
Campus placement is an important deliverable from any higher form of education.
IIITBH is fully aware and conscious of this fact.
IIITBH believes that the campus placement is a result of the quality of our
students and the rigour of our process. Our programmes and processes of delivery
will make our students Industry Ready.
IIITBH has included industry interaction as an important component of our
curriculum design. Leaders from the Industry, experts from the industry share their
valuable expertise and experience with our student. This helps students in many
ways. The students are sensitized to the industry requirements and hence prepare
themselves to be suitable for industry. They learn practical tricks of the trade from
the interaction with the experts. They also learn business practices as it happens in
industry.
Industry internship is designed to help discover industry practices from within the
industry. Working on practical projects will challenge the students to blend their
knowledge with demands from the peers and customers which is a key requirement
of the Industry readiness.

This bulletin is applicable for admission to 20072009 batch only. However, IIIT,
Bhubaneswar reserves the rights to make any changes in the requirements of
admission guidelines, curriculum, fees and regulations affecting students should
these be deemed necessary in the interest of the students, the Institute or the
profession. Changes, regulations, enactments, if any owing, to any regulatory
bodies shall be applicable to the Institute and the students. Any disputes regarding
any related matters shall be subject to the legal jurisdiction of Bhubaneswar only,
and ought to be raised within one month of declaration of the final results.
