About us
Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering &
Research (SAMEER was) set up as an autonomous R &
D laboratory under the then Department of Electronics,
Government of India with a broad mandate to undertake
R & D work in the areas of Microwave Engineering and
Electromagnetic Engineering Technology. It is an offshoot
of the special microwave products unit (SMPU) set up in
1977 at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research
(TIFR). SAMEER, The Centre for Electromagnetics,
Chennai of the then Department of Electronics (DOE)
was merged with SAMEER in 1987.SAMEER Kolkata
centre was set up in 1994 for research & Development in
Millimeter wave Technology. A new SAMEER centre at
Visakhapatnam has been started in June, 2014 as a
Centre for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3).

SAMEER has been in the forefront of R&D activities in the area of Electromagnetic Interference and Compatibilityin
the country. SAMEER with its state-of-the-art infrastructure and large pool of experienced scientists in the field of
EMI/EMC makes it number one destination for the EMI/EMC solutions in the country

Centre for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3)
The Centre for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) is aimed in establishing unique facilities in the country in
the field of E3. SAMEER with its vast experience in the areas of EMI/EMC, EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) can put
the expertise to the benefit of Defense services, Academic Institutions, public and private industries. The centre can
provide world class EMI EMC evaluation infrastructure for the benefit of Indian Industry. The centre also aims in
developing pool of skilled manpower in the area through regular workshops, seminars and other events

The primary activities of the centre are in the areas of
Electromagnetic Environmental Effects(E3) Research & Development
EMC Compliance Testing
Scientific Publication, Evolving standards & test specifications
E3 Prediction, Analysis, Design consultancy and Hardening services
Training and Education
EM Modeling and Analysis

About the Workshop
Are you a design engineer,
manufacturer, exporter or an end user
for a technology product? It pays to
understand EMI/EMC, know how and
why EMI testing is conducted, as well
as the typical causes of failure and
mitigation techniques. As an engineer,
you will need to know why EMI testing
is done, how it is conducted, and what
the typical failures are and how it can
be overcome. This workshop gives
you the information you need like test
method design considerations,
debugging and mitigation techniques,
etc. Various test setups and facilities
to be established at SAMEER will be
discussed during the programme.
Who will need it
Managers, Technical & QA Engineers
Design and Installation Engineers
Scientists / R&D Institutions
Teaching Professionals
Consultants
End Users
Topics Covered
Introduction to EMI/EMC
EMC Standards and Measurements
EMC control Techniques

The Faculty
The sessions will be addressed by
EMC experts having vast experience
in the relevant fields.
