Sustainable House

How can we define a sustainable house? What is the impact of a sustainable house and why its
important?
The issue of Ecological Houses is somewhat novel and this is due to recent climate changes that
are occurring around the world. This situation concerns us all and has to do something to change.
A good way to help is with the Ecological houses, because the elements that has, from its structure
to the works, helps the environment polluting less, improving air quality, not using and wasting
fossil fuels, recycling , among other things.
You could say that a healthy home is the combination of natural materials, alternative energy
sources, good guidance to make the best of solar radiation and wind, surrounded by a lot of plants
and landscaping.
For a structure that respects the environment are available:

Materials such as solar cells (A) that capture solar energy and electric power supply.
Using materials such as thermal window panes (C) help to maintain comfortable interior
without using energy.
The terraces with sliding shutters (D) reproduced the greenhouse effect keeping warm in
winter and forming recreational areas in summer.
Cellulose layering located under a layer on which cork tiles covering the roof (B) are
placed.
Thumbnail homes on insulating materials (E).
Thumbnail for coating skirting or baseboard heating system (H) in extreme winter sites.
Wall insulation with cork or some other cellulose layer to help isolate the space (I and J).
Using bricks or thermal noise insulating walls and manufactured cork, pulp, paper or
recycled wood, among others (F).
Using appliances with low energy and water saving systems (K).
Use of hollow bricks insulation favoring moisture and noise (L).
Establishment of topsoil at various sites (G) improves the landscape, absorbing rain and
particulate pollutants.

Building a sustainable house made based on environmental needs today demand the same costs
as a common house, but its use orgina 70 percent in energy savings, said an expert on climate
change. One built sustainably building consumes 15 percent less energy, with the reduction
implies that when paying the expenses of the various units.
Reasons to acquire a sustainable housing are diverse, including offering comfort and saving money
on the services of water, electricity and gas, in addition to contributing to the environment to stop
polluting by overuse natural resources that emit carbon dioxide carbon.
Sustainable house in Mxico
Currently in Mexico there is a program that aims to aims to incorporate using green technologies
in new homes built at country.
Under this program, the SAA developed the "Environmental Criteria for Saving Water and Energy
in Housing".
Among the technologies incorporated are:
Water heating systems through the use of solar energy (solar collectors or water heaters).
Efficient lighting (compact fluorescent lamps - energy saving).
Solar cells for outdoor lighting.
Water saving devices (aerators, showers, sinks and sink keys, installation Duo or dual flush
systems in toilets).
Recovery systems and treatment of gray or soap for reuse in toilet water.
Systems collecting rainwater for watering gardens and washing cars.
This program is part of the Sustainable Housing "Climate Action Program of the City of Mexico
2008-2012" and the work of the Environmental Management System in addition to technically
assist INVI during the initiation stage of the project is to quantify the benefits environment
associated with the installation of green technologies, specifically those that deal with the use of
water saving devices and saving lamps.
From 2008 to 2011 under this program have been built 5,979 homes.
In the case of the benefits associated with the installation of energy-saving lighting and water-
saving hydraulic furniture are:

Constructive Procedure
For the process of building an ecological house should consider the following parameters: We
must consult a dowser to see the location and the soil where it will build. We should also see the
location of the wind and the sun, because we need to use mostly for Wind and Solar Energy.
Systems can be used to save water and to supply themselves with the Solar and / or Wind. We
must take into account the orientation of the buildings, as they serve to use environmentally
friendly materials, if then, due to poor orientation, the buildings need a lot of energy, and produce
large amounts of CO2. There are also modular homes are prefabricated and are made using eco-
friendly materials while having benefits for saving energy. They do not cause damage to the land
and its design is performed with the goal that by the end of its useful life, they can be dismantled
and transported.
Recommendations:
Avoid using harmful materials such as ammonia, chlorine, PVC, heavy metals or those with
susceptibility to the emission of harmful gases.
The replacement of traditional cements by natural cements.
In carpentry, changing the aluminum by timber.
Reduce the use of steel and derive more grounded to discharge electricity. With regard to
the structural elements of the home, avoid the use of bituminous waterproofing elements
with asbestos, fiber cements, or isolates based on polymers and closed pore, with the
correct transpiration is difficult. Instead, work with insulation like cork and vegetable
fibers, as well as being more economical help the weight load that supports the house is
reduced. The raw material used must be made at least possible and try to have locally
sourced materials, as well as decrease the cost and construction is better integrated into
the environment in which it is.

For a house to be built is completely organic materials and systems that do not harm the
environment and with bioclimatic criteria that help to save energy. The advantage of having a
green home is that it is economical and does not pollute the environment.

Adding information to the construction we find a good spot and good orientation and solar
wind. This makes it an architect and should also consider the following:
The lot size.
There are no power lines or near industries that pollute.
Good orientation, either there are no sunblocks
Soil type.
Knowing microclimate.
They must analyze whether faults and veins of water.
If there is chemical, electrical, magnetic, environmental and mental pollution.

The procedure is simple like a normal house with the only difference that the materials used for
construction are different, well greener because this new alternative seeks to improve the
environment and avoid at all costs which damages the planet and us who inhabit it. It is
economical because it does not use electricity because they use wind, solar and hydro instead of
electricity which is more expensive, harmful and dangerous because it can cause accidents during
a thunderstorm. As part of the theme of the construction method on bio-construction process,
which is to use materials that respect the environment in housing construction, is. Finding a
material with all these features is critical. Also, if ecological and easy to grow becomes a very good
option. Hemp has all these qualities, increasingly has more industrial uses, and including the
construction is included.
Two types of designs sustainable architecture, Extensive, they need large areas of land that
require low buildings, houses, camouflage with the environment, etc., And Intensive, which are
theoretically useful for urban development, construction height (large number of people in a small
space).
