ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to determine the academic performance of the members of
performing arts of the University of San Agustin. The objectives of the study were to determine
the:(1) level of academic performance of the members of the University of San Agustin
Performing Arts as a whole and when categorized according to their sex, department, and
organization ; (2) significant difference between levels of academic performance of the members
of the University of San Agustin Performing Arts when categorized according to their sex,
department, and organization.
The study applied a descriptive quantitative type of research. The researchers gathered
data through the use of questionnaires distributed to the members of performing arts as their
respondents. The variables included in this study were: organizations, courses, departments and
the academic performance.
The study showed that the level of academic performance of the members of USA
performing arts students when they were taken as a whole group was 85.21 described as
satisfactory performance. It also showed that the Members of USA performing arts could reach
satisfactory grade even if they were involved in extra co- curricular activities. This simply shows
that their academic performance was not negatively affected by their membership in their
respective organizations. Another is that, among the five Performing Arts organization the USA
Band is the only one which obtained fair description while the rest obtained satisfactory
description. The sex (male and female) according to the results of the study shows no difference
in terms of the academic performance of the members of USA performing arts because both
male and female showed satisfactory results when grouped according to sex. Lastly based on the
researchers observation, the majority of the students belonging to the different departments
portrayed satisfactory performance in their academics.
