GPS and GSM based vehicle tracking System implements the emerging applications of the GSM technology. Using GSM networks, online vehicle tracking system has been proposed that will act as an embedded system which can monitor and control vehicle locally using built-in input and output peripherals. emotely the system allows the user to effectively monitor and control the vehicle via the mobile phone set as well as on web through GPS service from GSM network service provider. !t will achieve by sending commands in the form of SMS messages and receiving the alert SMS from vehicle and receiving "sending data over GPS as well. #he main concept behind the pro$ect is to detecting current location of vehicle using latitude and longitude received from GPS and send it to remote location on web server or te%ting on pre configured mobile number through GSM using GPS service or SMS service. eceiving command data from remote server on GPS or receiving the sent SMS command and processing it further as re&uired to perform desire action. #he type of the operation to be performed depends on the nature of the command sent. #he principle in which the pro$ect is based is fairly simple. 'irst, the sent SMS is stored and polled from the receiver mobile station and then the re&uired control signal is generated and sent to the intermediate hardware that we have designed according to the command received in form of the sent message. (e have selected a particular GSM modem for our pro$ect. #he messages are sent from the GSM Modem that contains commands in written form which are then processed accordingly to perform the re&uired task. ) microcontroller based system has been proposed for our pro$ect. #here are several terminologies that are used e%tensively throughout this pro$ect report. GSM *Global System for Mobile +ommunications,- !t is a cellular communication standard. SMS *Short Message Service,- !t is a service available on most digital mobile phones that permit the sending of short messages *also known as te%t messaging service,.GPS *General packet radio service, is use to send data to remote server.GPS *Global Positioning System, will gives correct latitude and longitude for current location which it receives from satellites.
