JOB AID- 01 (W1/P1)

Name of participant: ...
Registration Number: .

1.1 Title: Mobile Antenna System Demonstration in lab (if available) or by field
visit.

1.2 Objective: On completion of this exercise, the participant will be able to:
a) Identify various parts/ in Mobile Antenna system.
b) Explain the functions of these Mobile Antenna system parts.
c) Explain about the ports and operating Bandwidths of the Antenna
d) Know about the electrical tilt and mechanical tilts of the Antenna.

1.3 Venue/ Site:

1.4 Setup/Equipments Required:
Participant has to visit the Mobile antenna system location or a Lab in Training
Centre. Compass (magnetic) Dummy antenna binoculars, or visit to pole site
(Low height antenna).

1.5 Reports to be taken/ referred:
Note down the antenna system type (mono/dual/tri band) and operating
bandwidths of the antenna
1.6 Exercise:
1.6.1 Write down the name of various parts of a Mobile antenna System

1.6.2 Write down three main parameters to be taken into consideration while
installing Antenna system.

1.6.3 At Site/ Lab location, observe the mobile antenna support infrastructure
equipment.
Mention the names of this associated equipment. In your view, what are
the roles/functions of this equipment?

1.6.4 At Site/ Lab Location, observe the fixing/installation of the Antenna
system on the tower and interconnectivity between the Antenna system
and cables.
1.6.4.1 Where the 1800/900 Mhz band cables are terminated on a
dual/single band antenna?

1.6.4.2 At lab/ site:
i) Whether Mechanical tilt can be given to the antenna and
how much is already given.

ii) Whether electrical tilt can be given to the antenna and
how much is already given.

iii) Note type of the Antenna

1.6.5 Observe the range on scale given on the antenna for mechanical tilt of the
antenna

1.6.6 Observe the azimuth orientation of the antenna and note down the value in
the degrees.
