Located in Slovenia (EU) at the junction of Central and South Eastern
Europe, TAM-DuraBus is a bus and commercial vehicle manufacturer
with strong strategic commitment to product effciency and
environmental sustainability. Combining the know-
how of a Central European manufacturer with
more than 65 years of experience in the
commercial vehicle industry contributed by
highly qualifed employees and facilitating
the benefts arising from the integration
into a multinational group with vast
resources in the vehicle industry, TAM-
DuraBus is set to fulfll the highest
product and service expectations.

The factory as well as the TAM brand itself
became icons of the city of Maribor and
were seen as symbols of progress all over
Yugoslavia thanks to an entirely new line
of vehicles (the TAM 2000 line), developed by
TAM engineers in the years following the license
for production of trucks from the WestGerman
company Klckner-Humboldt-Deutz in
1957.
Industrial production in the TAM
facilities in Maribor dates back to
the year 1941 when the frst factory
was set up in order to manufacture aircraft
components. After the end of WW2, the
brand TAM was established in order to
provide a unifed market appearance to
various automotive products produced
in the new TAM factories (short for
Tovarna avtomobilov Maribor, in
English: Automotive Factory Maribor)
established in the year 1947 by a decree
of the government of the Federative
Peoples Republic of Yugoslavia.
By theyear 1986, theTAM brand had already
been used on a total of 200,000 vehicles
produced by TAM. Due to quality and
technical innovations, the TAM brand
established itself as a crown
jewel of Yugoslavias automotive
industry. In the city of Maribor the
TAM brand became a household
name, as the factory integrated
itself as an inseparable part
of the local community,
providing income security
for approximately 30,000
of the citys inhabitants.

Vehicles produced under the TAM brand
were successful in markets across the
globe. Some of the major export markets
included Russia & CIS, The Middle East & Northern
Africa, Eastern Europe and the United States of
America.
After the dissolution of Yugoslavia
the TAM brand continued to be used
by the Slovenian successor for the
production of buses and chassis. Thanks
to the cooperation with companies like
NEOPLAN and MAN, the company achieved
great success in export business during
that period.

With the takeover of the TAM brand in the
course of the TAM-DuraBus investment
project, a new chapter in the long history of
the brand name has been opened. With the
production of tourist, airport and city buses
focusing on new low-emission drive-train
technologies, TAM is once again a brand
representing the future of automotive
products in its segment.
