Memories, stories and objects
This is a hands-on, playful workshop that will mine our memories for the sharing of our stories

Objects have the capacity to arouse memory. The sharing of memories is infectious: one memory
shared may awaken a dozen more. As memories spread, our appreciation of story, of history and
most of all, of each other, grows. Personal narrative provoked by objects reveals our deepest
humanity as it unlocks forgotten histories. We will play, provoke and unearth in this workshop

Who left the tap running? Environmental practice in Museums
Everyone agrees that sustainability is important but some things are common
sense while others seem too hard. With this in mind Museums Australia (Victoria) surveyed
Victorian museums to measure the current level of environmentally responsible practice.

This paper explores the surveys findings and contextualises the Victorian experience and the
ways in which organisations, large and small, professional and volunteer, are making meaningful
contributions to sustainability within the limits of their resources. It will be shown that while
motivations range from the practical to the ideological, the end result is a variety of organisations
acting on the belief that museums have a responsibility to their community to develop more
environmentally sustainable practice. But where do we go from here?

Whats on in Albury

Albury Regional Art Gallery
The Albury Regional Art Gallery will close its doors on Friday 5 July to prepare for the $10.5million redevelopment. The
development will take place over a 24 month period with the Gallery re-opening on the same site in Dean Street in mid-2015.

LibraryMuseum

Wet Showcasing the works of Glen Clarke
This exhibition showcases the works of contemporary Australian artist Glen Clarke and celebrates our planet and
our humanity. With water as our most treasured resource, the exhibition examines our home, Earth, our
future, and more importantly our environmental responsibility and theories of climate change, carbon
footprints and sustainability. This work takes its motivation from recent global climatic events and thereby
addresses concepts of vulnerability, uncertainty and personal holocausts, i.e. cyclone, flood, earthquake,
tsunami and bushfire.

First Flight
The Albury and District Historical Society have constructed a life-size replica of the Robbins and Porter monoplane to
be hung from the LibraryMuseum ceiling. An exhibition of artifacts and memorabilia including the original flat-four
engine will be on show, and kids and adults alike will enjoy a computer simulation of the original Robbins and Porter
flight.

From the Earth to the Cosmos
From long exposure star trails taken on everyday cameras through to astrophotography of distant nebula and
galaxies taken with high end observatory equipment, the Astronomical Society of Albury-Wodonga
members have captured it all. This exhibition is a must see for fans of the universe and all of its celestial
bodies. Shown alongside these stunning photographs are objects such as meteorites and telescopes that give
an insight into the workings of the universe.

Albury Entertainment Centre
The Albury Entertainment Centre is set in picturesque QEII Square - just metres from the city's retail heart, Art Gallery, award-
winning LibraryMuseum, restaurants, clubs and a wide variety of accommodation.
The venue is made up of two buildings joined by a covered walkway. The spaces in these two wings are extremely flexible and
can be configured to accommodate events ranging from corporate meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops and product
launches to exhibitions, gala evenings, grand balls and full-scale theatre productions.
Albury Entertainment Centre accommodates delegates and patrons with disabilities whenever possible. The main auditorium is
equipped with a hearing loop and audio description services.
