HYCHEM was formed in 1987 by Wolfgang Bauer to satisfy
the demand for an Australian based company servicing
the construction industry with epoxy resin technology.
The company now has offces in Sydney, Melbourne and
Brisbane and is represented by key contractors in SA
and WA. All epoxy products are locally formulated and
manufactured, designed for Australian conditions. HYCHEM
offers a full range of products traditionally required by the
Industry and is also a leader in the development of new
systems for niche markets.
For applications where epoxy products are unsuitable,
the company also offers polyurethane and
methylmethacrylate products.
HYCHEM is the preferred company of choice in the
construction and engineering markets offering local
support and ready product availability.

hYChEM 100
A premium 38% solids, low VOC, performance product with excellent UV, wear
and chemical resistance. This product is suited to shopping malls, car parks,
factories and warehouses and when applied cures to a matt fnish which is long
lasting and easily maintained. Concrete surfaces sealed with HYCHEM 100 will
not absorb oil stains and remain relatively dust free. The matt fnish produces an
even look and does not show traffc wear pattern as easily as a gloss fnish.
HYCHEM 100 can also be used outdoors and will extend the colour stability of
a pigmented epoxy system used in such situations. Depending upon surface
porosity, 25% water may be added to the mix prior to application.
hYChEM 120
A cost effective 47% solids, low VOC, water based epoxy sealer with a gloss fnish.
It is designed for use on car parks and other broad area surfaces where traditional
low cost, solvent based acrylic sealers can no longer be used due fammability and
VOC restrictions. 50% water is normally added to the mixed product prior to use.
hYChEM pu-100
A 100% water based, acrylic modifed polyurethane designed for situations
where absolute non yellowing of the sealer is a decisive factor. This product is
available in both matt and gloss varieties and is ideally suited as a fnal topcoat
sealer for water based epoxy systems. When used as a topcoat for epoxy
systems it dramatically improves gloss retention in outdoor environments.
It is not recommended for direct application to porous concrete or rough
exposed aggregate, antislip fnishes.

HYCHEM has on offer 3 water based epoxy systems, the correct choice dependant
on the particular feature of most importance. For low cost and high wear resistance,
HYCHEM SF25 is recommended. For early application to new concrete and block
walls, HYCHEM WE90 is recommended. For application in external environments,
the use of HYCHEM WE95 should be considered.
hYChEM SF25
40% volume solids, cost effective, low VOC, pigmented epoxy coating with high
wear resistance, designed for broad area surfaces such as car parks and warehouses.
HYCHEM SF25 has been tested for slip resistance and gains an R10 classifcation
without the addition of on site antislip aggregate.
hYChEM wE90
70% volume solids, low VOC epoxy coating with high vapour permeability. Available
in neutral for pigmentation on site. The high vapour permeability allows it to be used
on green concrete and also on walls which have been backflled and are subject to
continual dampness. The product is generally used with one third water addition on
site at a fnal solids level of 45-50%.
It is an excellent substitution for HYCHEM SF20 in environments not exposed to
mineral acids.
hYChEM wp95
A companion product to HYCHEM WE90, it is used as a topcoat for WE90 in external
situations where color and weathering stability are important considerations. The
ideal coating for exposed walls, balconies, driveways, patios and pool surrounds.

hYChEM Tl2 FlaSh
This product is unique in that it combines very fast cure with high fat and
impact resistance. It is the product of choice in the fast food industry where
these factors are often critical.
HYCHEM TL2 Flash is ideal in the bakery industry as a fooring material for
proofng ovens and in the snack food and confectionery industry where hot
fats often play havoc with conventional epoxy materials. Its excellent impact
resistance and quick cure make it an ideal repair material for meat industry
foors and fast food kitchens.
The product is odourless and solvent free and meets certifcation to the
green building code. Resistance to lactic acid is superior to conventional
epoxies, also indicating its use in the dairy products industry. The superior
general organic acid resistance has also yielded success for the product in
the sugar industry.
HYCHEM TL2 Flash has been applied at temperatures as low as zero
degrees and if preheated can be suitable for coolroom foor repairs.

HYCRETE Flooring Systems are recommended wherever a hard, impact
and wear resistant, durable fooring system is required. The actual
system specifcation is dependent on the service environment that
is to be encountered.
HYCRETE TR is recommended where exposure to boiling water or very
heavy traffc is the main consideration.
HYCRETE SL is recommended for all other applications where a
topping of 4mm plus is required.
TOPCOATS for HYCRETE SYSTEMS fall into 3 categories.
1. HYCRETE SEALER for situations exposed to boiling water and traffc.
2. HYCHEM E300SLF/SF12 for all general applications.
3. HYCHEM E300SLF/PU50 for exposure to disinfectant materials
such as peroxyacetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and strong solutions
of phosphoric and acetic acid.
HYCRETE Polyurethane Concrete is superior to other urethane
concrete products in two characteristic ways:
a. The water component is added on site, this dramatically increases
the shelf life and prevents the appearance of unsightly bubbles in
the topping due to carbon dioxide gas expansion.
b. Catalyst can be added on site, this gives a wide range of possible
application times and also allows quick cure at low temperatures
when required.

METHACRYLATE Flooring Systems are designed for use wherever
epoxy and urethane cement fooring systems cannot be used due to
insuffcient cure period being available or the prevailing temperature
being below the level where they cure satisfactorily. Ie. The chief
advantage of methacrylates systems is their very fast return to
service time and the ability to be applied below zero degrees. The
chief disadvantage of methacrylates systems is their fammability,
high odour and low resistance to solvents and hot fats.
Methacrylate foors however also have good resistance to dilute
organic and mineral acids, making them useful in the beverage industry
and the mineral acid based chemical industry.

hYChEM pF-5
A fast curing epoxy paste which is used in the replacement of timber piles by
steel tubular piles.
PF-5 Epoxy grout is positioned on the cut timber pile and the steel tube is
wedged over the top, allowing for a seal between timber pile and steel tube.
hYChEM pF-7
A high density water displacing grout used primarily as part of a marine
pile rehabilitation system. The pile is cleaned and the repair area is
surrounded with a fbreglass jacket. Epoxy grout is then pumped into the
annulus between jacket and pile. Due to the high grout density the grout
displaces the water and bonds to the pile. Use of underwater epoxy grouts
as a replacement for cementitious repairs drastically reduces the total pile
weight and pile dimension.

hYDraGarD F
Sealing polished concrete
Sealing terracotta products
preventing moss on sandstone and brick pavers
waterproofng single skin block work constructions
Easier stain removal from natural stone facings
Damp proofng heritage constructions
preventing surface darkening of tilt up panels
hYDraGarD S
HYDRAGARD S is a clear penetrating sealer for porous
building materials such as concrete, brick, terracotta, cement
sheet and natural stone. It is highly effective against wind
driven rain and is suitable for waterproofng single skin
constructions.
Surfaces treated with HYDRAGARD S remain dry and will not
support moss and algae growth. The product is thus highly
useful as an aesthetic treatment for brick, stone and concrete
paving. Treated surfaces also remain dirt repellent and are
easier to clean.
hYDraGarD F
HYDRAGARD F is a clear penetrating sealer which has
resistance to oil based stains as well as water based stains.
This property makes the product useful as a treatment for
polished concrete in domestic and commercial construction.
It can also be used as a treatment for brick and concrete
paving in public areas, reducing the tendency for dirt and
stains to adhere, allowing easier cleaning and removal. The
water based composition of HYDRAGARD F eliminates
fre hazards during application and contributes to a lower
environmental impact than many common anti graffti sealers.

Curing conditions
1. Epoxy materials are affected by weather conditions during the curing process.
The cure speed will halve for every 10C that the temperature increases and
double for every 10C that it decreases. A coating that has a tack free time of
6 hours at 20C will be touch dry in 3 hours at 30C and 12 hours at 10C.
The same rule applies to pot life. Heating or cooling the resin and hardener
prior to application is recommended.
2. Cure time of water based epoxy coatings are highly affected by humidity. The
coating cannot cure satisfactorily if the humidity is above 80%. These coatings
are not suitable for application on cold damp days or hot humid weather.
Care must be taken in confned spaces to ensure that the area is well ventilated.
If the coating has not been allowed to cure in the right conditions it will NOT
cure later even if the conditions improve.
3. Epoxy coatings are affected by surface moisture during the curing process.
The extent of this is dependent on the formulation. The worst case scenario is a
white crystalline deposit on the surface, the minimum case scenario is a spider
web defect, oily surface and resultant lack of gloss. These defect are cosmetic
only and do not affect the performance of the material. To avoid them do not
allow any water condensation n the surface in the frst 24 hours and do not
apply when the humidity is above 80%.

NOTE
The use of non epoxy retail and
industrial pigments is theoretically
possible. The use of epoxy pigments
is however recommended wherever
water or chemical resistance is an
important issue.
Universal paint pigments will
destroy water resistance and can
cause compatibility problems.
Industrial paint pigments can
seriously affect the chemical
resistance of any epoxy coating
to which they are added.
