business prospects in Southeast Asia.

representing U.S. companies
operating in all ten ASEAN countries
are optimistic about business prospects.

A LOOK AT BRUNEI:
A majority (75%) of respondents
report its stable government
and political system as
major strengths of the country.
Yet half of respondents cite the
lack of availability of trained
personnel as a challenge.

However, 100% of respondents
report corruption and the lack

personnel as major concerns.

in satisfaction across 16 business
environment factors, often by
double digits, for Malaysia from
2009 to 2014. Corruption and
personal security were reported
as particular challenges.

challenges with housing costs,
infrastructure, and availability
of trained personnel. Despite
these continued challenges,
77% expect to increase their
workforce in Myanmar.

The Philippines has made
signifcant reforms to improve the
business environment with
noticeable results. Roughly 40% or
more of executives reported
satisfaction with the governments
new business incentives, the
movement of goods within the
region, and reduction of local
protectionism.

Respondents indicate higher
satisfaction across polled business
factors for Singapore than any other
ASEAN country including stable
government, lack of corruption,
and infrastructure. Housing costs is
the most frequently cited challenge.
