Hazard Statements and Precautionary Statements: (USA Norms):
Hazard Code Hazard Statement Hazard Category
H318 Causes serious eye damage 1
H413 May cause long lasting harmful effects to aquatic life 4
H303 +H313 +H333 May be harmful if swallowed, in contact with skin or if inhaled 5
H317 May cause allergic skin reaction (depending on individual)*
* APBS is classified as Non-corrosive to skin after carrying out Skin Irritancy Test in Rabbits.

Additional Information on hazards:
Eye Contact: May cause severe irritation with corneal injury which may results in permanent impairment of vision, even
blindness. Chemical burns may occur.
Inhalation: At room temperature, exposure to vapor is minimal due to low volatility. Vapor from heated material or mist may
cause respiratory irritation. Can enter lungs and cause damage (Aspiration Hazard).
Ingestion: Moderate toxicity if swallowed. Small amounts swallowed incidentally as a result of normal handling operations
are not likely to cause injury; however, swallowing larger amounts may cause serious injury, even death. Swallowing may
results in irritation or burns of the mouth, throat, and gastrointestinal tract.
Skin Contact: Brief contact may cause irritation with pain and local redness. Prolonged contact may cause severe skin burns.
Symptoms may include pain, severe local redness, swelling, and tissue damage. Not classified as corrosive to the skin
according to guidelines (OECD, 1998). Prolonged skin contact is unlikely to result in absorption of harmful amounts.
Other Hazards:
Material on burning releases Carbon oxides and Nitrogen oxides.
DO NOT ADD NITRITES May form suspected cancer causing nitrosamines.

Evidence shows or practical
experience predicts that the
material produces irritation
of the respiratory system in a
substantial number of
individuals following
inhalation
Remove person from the contaminated area and move person to fresh air.
If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately.
If its suspected that fumes are still present, the rescuer should wear an appropriate mask
or self-contained breathing apparatus.
Keep person warm and at rest. If not breathing, if breathing is irregular, or if respiratory
arrest occurs, provide artificial respiration or oxygen by trained personnel. It may be
dangerous to the person providing aid to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Maintain an open airway. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband.
In case of inhalation of decomposition products in a fire, symptoms may be delayed.
The exposed person may need to be kept under medical surveillance for 48 hours.

The material can cause
severe chemical burn to the
eye following direct contact.
Vapours/mist can be
irritating.
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower
eyelids.

Chemical eye burns may require extended irrigation. Chemical burns must be treated
promptly by a physician.
Transport the person to medical facility immediately post irrigation.

Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Maintain adequate ventilation and oxygenation of the patient.
Watch for signs of respiratory insufficiency and assist ventilation as necessary.Respiratory symptoms, including pulmonary
edema, may be delayed.
Persons receiving significant exposure should be observed 24-48 hours for signs of respiratory distress.
Obtain prompt consultation, preferably from an ophthalmologist.
If burn is present, treat as any thermal burn, after decontamination.
Due to irritant properties, swallowing may result in burns/ulceration of mouth, stomach and lower gastrointestinal tract with
subsequent stricture. Aspiration of vomitus may cause lung injury.
Suggest endotracheal/esophageal control if lavage is done. No specific antidote. Treatment of exposure should be directed at
the control of symptoms and the clinical condition of the patient.

Preventive Measures: Conditions of use, adequacy of engineering or other control measures, and actual exposures will
dictate the need for specific protective devices at your workplace.
Engineering Controls: Use local exhaust ventilation to maintain airborne concentrations below the TLV. Suitable respiratory
equipment should be used in cases of insufficient ventilation or where operational procedures demand it. For guidance on
engineering controls measures refer to publications such as the ACGIH current edition of Industrial Ventilation, a manual of
Recommended Practice.
General Protective and hygienic measures: Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and feed. Immediately remove all soiled
and contaminated clothing. Wash hands before breaks and at end of work. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
Skin Protection: Personal protective equipment for the body (PVC gloves, bodysuit, Safety boots etc.) should be selected
based on the task being performed and the risks involved and should be approved by a specialist before handling this product.
Eye Protection: Safety eyewear (goggles, facemasks etc.) complying with an approved standard should be used when a risk
assessment indicates this is necessary to avoid exposure to liquid splashes, mists or dusts.
Respiratory: Use a properly fitted, air-purifying or air-fed respirator complying with an approved standard if a risk
assessment indicates this is necessary. Respirator selection must be based on known or anticipated exposure levels, the
hazards of the product and the safe working limits of the selected respirator.
Hands: Chemical-resistant, impervious gloves complying with an approved standard should be worn at all times when
handling chemical products if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary.
