RSLogix Micro V8.10 and later require a serial number for installation. You can
install the RSLogix Micro Starter Lite version without a serial number and then
upgrade to the RSLogix Micro Starter or Dev version later.
RSLogix Micro supports only FactoryTalk Activation. Refer to the document titled
Activate Your Rockwell Software Products that came in the box with your software,
and is also available during installation for information on FactoryTalk Activa

Microsoft Vista Users: RSLogix Micro requires that you use RSLinx Classic v2.53
or later when running under Microsoft Vista. To run RSEmulate 500 under Microsof
t Vista, RSLinx Classic v. 2.55 or later is required.
Microsoft Windows 7 Users: RSLogix Micro requires that you use RSLinx Classic v
2.57 or later when running under Microsoft Windows 7.

To install RSLogix Micro 8.30, insert the CD into your CDRom drive to initiate a
utorun. If you are not using autorun, run SETUP.EXE found on the CD in \RSLogix
_En. The default install path is "C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\RSLogix Mic
ro English". The language suffix changes for the different languages supported b
y RSLogix Micro. You can change the path but the "RSLogix Micro English" portion
of the path is fixed and cannot be altered.
RSLogix 500 and RSLogix Micro cannot be installed on the same computer. If SLC c
ontroller support or other features are needed, you may upgrade RSLogix Micro to
RSLogix 500.
If you plan to install RSLogix Micro on a computer that has RSLogix 500 installe
d, you must uninstall RSLogix 500 and then install RSLogix Micro. Once you have
installed the software you can move your existing project files to the new proje
ct directory.
If you plan to install RSLogix Micro Lite and RSLinx Classic Lite, do not change
the default selection for the Electronic Data Sheets during the installation. I
f you change the default selection for Electronic Data Sheets when you install R
SLinx Classic Lite from the RSLogix Micro Lite installation menu an error messag
e will be displayed. If this happens you will need to download RSLinx Classic Li
te from the update site (http://www.rockwellautomation.com/support/webupdates/ )
and then run the installation again.

The following anomalies are resolved in this release:
The Node address (low byte in Word 17 of channel configuration) in Modb
us Master CCF was set to an invalid value for MicroLogix 1100 and MicroLogix 140
0 controllers.
The LCD Edit Disable property of O, I, T, C, R, ST, A, MG, PD, PLS, RI, R
IX files was not cleared and unavailable (grayed out). The LCD Edit Disable proper
ty of S and F files was not selected (checked) and unavailable (grayed out). The
LCD Edit Disable property of B, N and L files was not cleared and editable as def
ault.

The following is a list of known anomalies at the time this software version was
released.
Under Windows Vista, if you have User Account Control (UAC) enabled, yo
u may be prompted to confirm your Administrator privileges when executing certai
n tasks (like import/export) in RSLogix Micro.
In a MicroLogix 1200 or MicroLogix 1500 project, if a CLR instruction w
ith an HSC:0.ACC or HSC:1.ACC operand exists in the rung with a nested branch (f
or example:BST XIC B3:0/0 CLR HSC:1.ACC NXB ADD 0 N12:1 N7:0 BND ), the project
verification will fail and a complier error will be displayed.
Software will not allow the use of a Floating Point constant in an SCP
instruction.
RSLogix Micro requires a save before downloading a file that is write p
rotected.
In the Histogram Save/Load feature, the Load Histogram does not functio
n correctly.
MicroLogix 1500 LRP Series C Channel 1 Radio modem; the broadcast messa
ge destination node 1 is not accepted when verifying the project. The error mess
age invalid local DH-485 Station Number (0-254) is displayed even though 1 is a va
lid local DH-485 station number when Channel 1 is set for DF1 Radio modem and a
broadcast message is desired.
In order to support the MicroLogix 1100 Series B controller, RSLogix Mi
cro handles PTO and PWM frequencies (PTO.OF, PTO.OFS, PTO.JF, PWM.OF and PWM.OFS
) as unsigned 16-bit integers (0 - 65535) for MicroLogix 1100 Series B. Therefor
e, if an older version of RSLogix Micro (V7.0 and V7.10) is used with the MicroL
ogix 1100 Series B controller compatibility issues will occur. These include:
RSLogix Micro display issues: Because an older version of RSLogix Micro
treats PTO/PWM frequencies as signed integers, if a user uploads a program from
a MicroLogix 1100 Series B controller into the software, a negative frequency v
alue may be displayed. For example, 40 kHz is 0x9C40 in hexadecimal. The hexadec
imal value 0x9C40 is 40000 in unsigned integer, but -25536 in signed integer.
Instruction issues: All instructions in MicroLogix controllers treat in
tegers as signed integers. Therefore, unsigned integers in PTO/PWM function file
elements need to be treated carefully when they are used in the variables for i
nstructions. An undesired result may be returned or math overflow may be detecte
d during instruction executions. A workaround should be used such as copying PTO
/PWM frequencies to long integer before manipulation. For greater detail refer t
o Appendix F: How to use 40kHz PTO/PWM of MicroLogix 1100 Series B Controller in
Publication 1763-RM001B-EN-P January 2007.
If the address description in a data file is changed, the description i
n the Trend applet cannot be updated.

The following information is provided to help you better understand the behavior
of the RSLogix Micro software in particular applications or under certain circu
mstances.
Only one version or edition of RSLogix 500 or RSLogix Micro may be inst
alled within a Windows operating system.
Do not perform Online saves with the Excel database editor (Developer o
nly) open as it results in errors in the .RSS file
If you are using RSLinx to perform DDE communications with a controller
and you download a project to the same controller, the download may fail. If th
is occurs, the controller loads its default program. To avoid this situation cea
se DDE communications to your target controller when you plan to download a proj
ect to the same controller.
The project file (projectname.RSS) contains both an online and offline
image of your project. This speeds the process of connecting to a controller. Th
ese images can get unsynchronized; this occurs if you don't save your changes wh
en going from online to offline. To synchronize the images, you must download, u
pload, or save the project while online.
The project file (projectname.RSS) contains all database- and project-r
elated files. If you need to share a project with someone, simply provide them w
ith the projectname.RSS file and they will receive all project-related informati
on. When sharing RSLogix database information with other Rockwell Software progr
ams, like RSView 32, you must use the Save database as external file check box on
the File>Save As dialog box to make the database file available to that program.
RSLogix Micro prints Ladder Logic reports as graphic files. The ladder
report cannot be printed to a text file. Other RSLogix Micro reports can be prin
ted to a text file using the Generic/Text-only printer driver in Windows.
The following characters may not be used in RSLogix Micro symbols, ` ~!
@#$%^&*()-+={}[]|\\:;""'<>?,./ . If you used these characters in a previous rel
ease of RSLogix Micro the symbols will appear in your ladder views and reports.
However, you cannot modify the symbol.
We recommend that you export the database to the ASCII CSV format to speed the r
eplacement of the illegal characters in your symbols.
