Review the compatibility matrix for the ITSM applications you are installing. See Click the Support Login link, and then log in. Click the Product Availability and Compatibility link. From this page, click the BMC Remedy Product Compatibility link. Review the installation prerequisites for the ITSM applications you are installing. Install the following software: ! AR System 7.0.01, patch 004 or later ! Backup the AR System database ! BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database (CMDB) ! Approval Server and Assignment Engine ! Email Engine (if you want to use email notifications) Activate the application licenses Install the ITSM applications and the latest patches For more information, see the BMC Remedy IT Service Management 7.0.03 Installation Guide. On the IT Home Page, click the Application Administration Console link. On the Standard Configuration tab, click the Create button next to Step 4: People. In the People form, click Select Template. In the Person Template form, specify a user name and login information. (Optional) Enter additional information (such as email address or telephone number) that you want for the person you are creating. Select the template you want to use, and click Select. In the People form, click Add. You can find more information in the Configuration Guide: ! Company, Location, Site, Support Group, and People Information are used to describe your organization and the people within it. You can modify this information to reflect your specific organizational structure. For example, you may want to create an alias for the default company, My Company. See Chapter 3, Standard configuration, and Chapter 6, Company information configuration. ! Category Information is used for assignment and reporting. See Chapter 10, Product and operational catalog information configuration ! Custom Configuration Tab items should be reviewed to assure settings and configuration data are correct for your installation. See Chapter 4, Custom configuration ! The Requester Console presents common requests for IT services to end users. You can change the pre- configured services shown in the console. See Chapter 18, Configuring the Requester Console. BMC Service Request Management (SRM) replaces the Requester Console for those organizations that use SRM. For more information about SRM, see the BMC ServiceRequest Management 2.0 Guidefor Administrators and Users. ! Group assignments and routing orders are used to auto assign requests to the appropriate support groups. You can modify the pre-configured assignments or create new assignments. See Chapter 12, Assignment configuration. The ITSM installation provides default configuration data to accelerate your implementation. The configuration data was created for a single-tenancy (one customer or business unit) environment with two example sites and four example departments, which you can change. One person with a login name of was created with the appropriate permissions to use any of the applications immediately after installation. You can delete or rename this user (but not login ID), the sites, and departments. When installing BMC Remedy Action Request System (AR System) and one ITSM application, you need at least: ! : 7 GB ! : Dual 3 GHz ! : 2 GB of disk space each ! : 4 GB 1000 MB of disk space !
