SYSTEM ANALYSIS
6.1. PROLEM !E"INITION
Major tasks of any Library Information System are Book Details
maintenance, Issue Details, Return Details and so on. These activities ill be
maintained via com!uter systems.
There are many !roblems e"ist in Information Mana#ement of any concern.
There may be some inconvenient in solvin# some !roblems arisin# durin# manual
!rocessin#. $mon# these i% Searchin# is one of the major !roblems in #eneral and
ii% Inventory Mana#ement !roblems like !roblems in handlin# the invoicin# or
billin#.
Records may be scattered in more than one records&files and it is difficult to
search a !articular record. It is a time consumin# !rocess and tedious one.
'irstly, if e com!uteri(e the inventory like !rocess, searchin# ill be easy
and e need not maintain more manual records&files.
Secondly, com!uter system has characteristic )dili#ence* means it ill not
#et tired and ork continuously. Thirdly, mana#in# records via com!uter is less
cost than manual.

6.' PRO(ECT !ESCRIPTION
The main objective of this !roject is to com!uteri(e the Library of
$rulmi#u -alasalin#am .olle#e of $rts and Science, -rishnankoil. This !roject
mainly deals ith the !rocurement of Books to library and .ontrollin# and
monitorin# the Issue and Returnin# strate#ies.
The !roject consist of four main modules

This module is res!onsible for the storin# the book details, staff details and
student details, journal and .D details maintained in the library. This module
consists of sub modules such as,

This com!onent details ith the book Master information such as Book
title, $uthor name, $ccession number, Rate, ISB1, 0dition, 2ublisher 1ame and
$ddress, .D !acks and so on. This module is inte#rated ith Issue, Return
modules as for reference.
St-.ent Master
This module is used to store student information such as Student 1ame Roll
1umber, $ddress, Token 1umber details, De!artment, Branch, Batch and so on.
$lso this module havin# facilities to add, modify, delete any information at any
time.
Sta$$ Master
This module is used to store staff details such as staff name, de!artment,
address, token numbers, desi#nation and etc.

/ournal entry module is used to #ather information about the various
journals used in the library. It includes information such as journal name,
subscri!tion amount, !eriod, ISB1, editor, !ublisher name and address and so on.

Issue re#ister stores information such as Book Issue date, title, author,
accession number, token number, due date in hich book must be returned.
Ret-rn Re,ister
This module is used to enter return transaction information such as
$ccession number, token number, title, author, issue date, returned date, fine if any
and so on.
ST*!ENT AN! STA"" LO+
This is a module in hich student and staff lo# information into library is
stored. This module contains information such as roll number of student, Date of
lo#, time in and time out ith the !ur!ose.
REPORTS
This is the final module hich is used to !roduce dynamic and timely
re!orts based on the needed format. This !acka#e can #enerate the folloin#
