1) Col l ect the tool s above. 2) Prepare the earth mi x whi ch i s stabi l i zed wi th cement, l i me, or asphal t emul si on. 3) Add enough
water to bal l together when squeezed, yet not l eave the hand wet. l f no cement, l i me or barbed wi re i s avai l abl e, use raw earth
(cl ay-sand) for a temporary shel ter. (Experi mental : try snow i n bags and compact.)

4) Pl ace the door away from wi nd and rai n. 5) Di g the foundati on trench L2" (3O cm) deep. 6) Level and compact the trench.
7) Pl ace the bag i n the trench, fol d the end under to cl ose, and start fi l l i ng upri ght l ke a short col umn (usi ng l ong tubi ng or
standard sandbags). The foundati on wi l l be 2-3 compl eted bag rows.
8) Al ways
put i n 2-3 cans of earth and shake to the end. 9) Use gravi ty' s hel p by sl opi ng the bag on your l eg, and wal ki ng
backwards as i t fi l l s. Do not strai n (i f i t i s hard and feel s heavy you are not doi ng i t ri ght). Let the bag fi l l as ful l as possi bl e and
check the posi ti on wi th the compass tool . 10) Twi st and tuck under the bag ends to cl ose.
11) Compact the fi l l ed bag as hard as you can usi ng a tamper, to make a smooth, sol i d, uni form bl ock. Onl y compacted damp
earth becomes strong. 12) Attach conti nuous barbed wi re: 1 wi re for domes up to 12 ft (3.7m), 2 wi res for l arger domes. Where
breaks occur, overl ap the wi res by 2ft. (65 cm). 13) Conti nue coi l i ng bags.

1,4, t5) You must use 2 Compasses to make the dome shape. Use chai ns or other non-stretchy cabl e-rope. Attach one i n the
center (Center Compass), and extend the l ength at every row accordi ng to a second one at the
peri meter (Hei ght Compass). l f any
bags do not conform to the comoass remove them and re-bui l d.
16) Pre-cut bags for a dooruray knock-out panel ,
or for wi ndows. l f stabi l i zed, the earth must be cut after tampi ng at every row;
don' t l et the cut bags sti ck together a$ai n. t7) Punch out

to open the door or wi ndow after at l east 5 bag rows
