INTRODUCTION
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is now seen as an ethical and smart way to conduct business, making corporate
entities into socially responsible organisations, visibly contributing to the social good. Socially responsible companies
do not limit themselves to using their resources to engage in activities that increase only profits. They use CSR to
integrate economic, environmental and social objectives into the companys operations and growth. The concept of
CSR has evolved over the years, especially in India - now the only country with legislated CSR directives!

With the Company Act, 2013 in our country, it will hopefully motivate organizations to undertake CSR initiatives
proactively and seriously. Organizations are realizing that the government cannot alone uplift society and it needs
help from businesses. Under this Act, most firms with sizeable business are required to shell out at least 2% of their
3 years annual average net profit towards CSR works. According to industry estimates, around 8,000 companies will
fall into the remit of the CSR provisions; this would translate into an estimated CSR spend of Rs 30,000 crore
annually. Plus, with higher economic growth and increase in companys profits, this mandatory spending will go up.
While many big companies have been actively engaged in CSR activities but the number is still very low, and this new
law will lead to a significant increase in the number.

The mandatory reporting standards introduced in this Companies Act will strengthen and create uniformity,
accountability of actions and will measure the impact of these activities. The workshop is being organised for better
understanding of the current scenario of CSR activities, guidelines and the act. The sessions in the workshop are
being designed in a way that the new CSR professionals can understand the policy formulations till reporting and
assessment. On the second day, the panel discussion will help the delegates to listen to and interact with the
industry leaders in the CSR & Sustainability domain. The combined workshop and panel discussion would help the
participants to better organise their efforts and do good to themselves and the society at large.

OBJECTIVE
To create better understating about New CSR Law under Company Act, 2013.
To enable participants to acquire the skills and competencies required to undertake effective planning and
implementation of the CSR Agenda.
To provide tools and practical framework to improve CSR decision making, manage risks, measure
performance, and to create and leverage partnerships.
To help move away from conventional philanthropy to communitys need oriented initiatives through
objective stakeholder-engagement-processes.
To develop understanding on how money spent could cover larger social and environmental issues.
To enable participants to learn from the experiences of industry leaders in the panel discussion and their
peers working in the field.
To appreciate how sustainability reporting could be an effective and transparent mode of communicating
with all the stakeholders
