Citrix Specialist

Location: Dublin, Ireland


Job Purpose
The primary role of the Citrix Specialist is to support the Global XenApp and Xe
nDesktop environments for the LP Group.
Within LPIS, the Workspace Virtualisation Team supports c.4000 virtual desktops
across EMEA and provides extended support to a Global environment
Day to day responsibilities will be to support and maintain this environment,
guarantee reliability and availability to agreed SLA's, deliver the pipeline of ch
ange required in a fast moving environment and work on operational
projects to deliver new platforms and services to end users.

This role reports to the Workspace Virtualisation Team Leader

Number of Indirect Reports
Support of Citrix farms including Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop support
ing c.4000 users
Application Sequencing / Scripting
Troubleshooting and problem resolution of the Citrix and Windows Serve
r environment.
Windows Server 2008/2012 server administration
Plan, develop, install and maintain the supported environments
Comply and adhere to all key support processes
Develop and maintain support documentation in accordance with company
standards
Managing administrative duties and documentation effectively and in a
proactive way following an ITIL based support model
Advise on tools, best practice techniques and methodologies to develop
/enhance the environment.
Provide support for the Intel, Network/Telephony and Infrastructure Te
ams
Develop and maintain support documentation in accordance with company
standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Citrix XennApp 6.5 Presentation Server Implementation and configuratio
n knowledge
Sequencing applications using Microsoft App-V 4.5/5 a preference
Scripting knowledge (VBScript, CMD Shell, Power Shell, Batch Scripting
)
Windows 2008/2012 server administration in an enterprise environment
Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
Knowledge of ITIL processes and practices.
Knowledge of current technologies in accordance with this role
Knowledge of Project Management methodology an advantage
Demonstrableexperience with pro-actively managing work and addressing
and prioritising demands
Strong working knowledge of current and emerging trends
Fluent in business English language - written and verbal
Experience in managing workload and prioritise without supervision. Th
is includes an ability to balance multiple high priority requests
Knowledge and Experience of the following is desirable:
Linux RedHat Enterprise server administration.
Strong knowledge of VMWare ESX Enterprise.
Strong knowledge of SAN technologies including Fibre Channel, Fabric Z
oning and LUN mapping.
Knowledge of good security principles


Education and Qualifications
Degree educated or experience led equivalent
ITIL foundation
Demonstrable understanding and several years' experience of operations m
anagement requirements
