This survey is an initiative by the ASEAN-BAC, to guide ASEAN leaders during their consultations and dialogue. ASEAN-BAC is grouping 30 ASEANs prominent business people. ASEAN-BAC was formed in 2003 by the ASEAN Leaders (Heads of State and Government) to provide private sector feedback on ASEAN economic cooperation.
This year, the survey is supported by Myanmar Marketing Research and Development (MMRD), a leading research agency based in Yangon, Myanmar.
The three previous surveys have been supported by the Singapore Business Federation in Singapore.
3. What is the purpose of this survey?
Please read the information below and contact us in case you have further questions before deciding whether or not to take part.
The survey seeks your participation in expressing your views and directions in developing your business in ASEAN. At the forthcoming ASEAN Summit in Myanmar, your views and directions will be made available and presented to the leaders of ASEAN, US, J apan, and China.
This year, the opinions of businesses based in every ASEAN country will be assessed. This will constitute the opportunity for ASEANs SMEs and MNCs to share their opinions about their country on five different topics: financial services, marketing ASEAN consumers, market potential and business environment.
The survey findings will be submitted by ASEAN-BAC to the ASEAN Leaders at the ASEAN Summit in November 2011 in Bali, Indonesia, as well as to ASEAN Economic Ministers and officials.
The ASEAN Business Competitiveness Survey 2014 follows from the success of the 2013 ASEAN-BAC Survey, where survey findings and policy recommendations were reported to ASEAN Leaders in August 2013 in Brunei Darussalam. The report on Findings from 2013 ASEAN-BAC Survey on ASEAN Competitiveness can be downloaded at: http://www.sbf.org.sg/download/docs/home/2013_ASEAN_BAC_Survey.htm
4. Who can participate in the survey? What is the expected duration of my participation?
Participants should be employed (from executive roles to CEOs) by an SME or MNC based in one (or more) ASEAN countries.
The survey will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
You may complete the survey via the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/aseanbizsurvey2014
5. How will my privacy and the confidentiality of my research records be protected?
All aspects of the survey, including results, will be strictly confidential and only the two principal researchers conducting the survey will have access to information the participants. Each participants name, organisation and job title that are collected in the survey will be stored separately by the principal researcher.
Information on individual participants and the businesses to which they belong will not be identifiable in any published findings, unless permission is sought and given prior to publication. Only aggregate data will be published.
6. What are the possible benefits to me and to others?
Your inputs are important to advancing ASEAN economic integration and helping businesses and economies in ASEAN to prosper. As the collective views from businesses in this survey will be presented to ASEAN Leaders, it is hoped that this will assist policy makers to formulate or enhance policies that enable business growth and strengthen ASEAN competitiveness.
Your participation will be rewarded by lucky draws of all survey respondents at the close of the survey period. The winners will be announced on the ASEAN-BAC website and contacted personally by email. The winners will receive 4-day/3-night trip to Naypyitaw for ASEAN Business Investment Summit or 3-day/2-night trip to Yangon. You will also be provided with a copy of the survey results when they are available, as well as information on any follow-up actions arising from the survey.
7. Can I refuse to participate in this survey?
Your decision to participate in this research is voluntary and completely up to you. If you do not feel comfortable at anytime during or after the survey, you may terminate your participation for any reason. All resultant data from your response to the survey will be discarded.
