MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER
Chronological Bible Reading: Isai ah 28- 30; 1 Thessal oni ans 4
Monday, October 6
2 John 2 For the truths sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
Jesus My Glorious Lord:
Just let your truth get into the heart of __________ and __________, and
then their whole personality will be transformed! How people change when they
get saved, and get discipled in the truth! No power human or demonic can turn
them back, because they have your Spirit inside and ministering spirits outside.
Here is an evangelistic privilege: you are not my guest, but the master of
my house. I have friends who need to feel the reviving power of the gospel. May
they know the might of the Holy Ghost as he opens, applies, and seals your word
to them. A thousand mercies are contained in the assurance your truth is with me
forever. It is my living support and rising song, as well as my dying comfort and
eternal glory.
Here is an evangelistic necessity: without your truth, my faith is
worthless. There are some lessons I have outgrown and left behind. They were
elementary, for beginnersbut not so your divine truth. It is sweet milk for
babes, but also strong meat for the mature.
Here is an evangelistic truth: we are sinners. That is painful to admit and
makes me humble. But here is the hope and joy I can spread by your assistance:
Rom. 10: 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
I exercise my love when I help anyone else discover this one abiding truth.
Some truths I am afraid of, but this truth drives-out fear. Help me be at war with
error, and still love those who are deceived by it! Help me love and spread truth
today. Help me increase my own measure of the truth I see in Jesus Christ. Do it
for his sake and glory. Amen.
TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS CROSS
Chronological Bible Reading: Isai ah 31- 33; 1 Thessal oni ans 5
Tuesday, October 7
Mark 15: 33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole
land until the ninth hour.
Most Merciful Lord:
There was more than enough anguish at Calvary. Ridicule and contempt
from my fellow humans embittered it all in wormwood and gall. I thank you
Lord, that in the middle of that mother of all crimes, a darkness came down
making it impossible for them to go even further with their mocking and reviling.
I asked the heavens, What foes to God hath done this unexampled deed? The heavens exclaim,
Twas man; and we in horror snatched the sun from such a spectacle of guilt and shame.
Lord, I thank you that your cross had a hiding place, so your justice did not
see and strike the perpetrators. You lifted up your Son and made his suffering
visible to all, but then hid the sin of men and women like me, allowing your pity
to endure our provocations.
Thank you Lord, that your cross made it possible for my sins to be hidden
more completely than even by this darknessfor they have been taken away! I
thank you God, that you see me in Christ Jesus. Your stern eye of justice would
have meant my eternal destruction had Jesus not intervened. For the Lords sake,
even the lost are right now allowed to live as if you did not see their sins!
2 Pet . 3: 9 The Lord is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should
perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Your longsuffering is designed to bring them to repentance. Help them
come! Help them come through my witness! Help them come through the
preaching and teaching of our church! I pour out my soul to you, you who
sheltered Christs majesty in the hour of his misery. Will you not also shelter so
many more in our city from the wrath to come?
WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: Isai ah 34- 36; 2 Thessal oni ans 1
Wednesday, October 8
John 16: 24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive,
that your joy may be full.
Lord of Glory, Giver of Grace:
If you have given me a measure of prayerfulness make it grow in intensity.
It is not the amount of time I take to pray that counts, but the earnestness of
heart I have in it. Make me want to pray all the timeto have a word to say to
you at every event of the day, because you are my best friend. I should not stop
asking for fresh blessings from your hand, because supplication is another one of
your gifts. I despise you if I am not conscious of your presence by praying.
Written at the bottom of every promise is your desire for me to pray for it.
It is the fine print that accompanies every assurance and the instructions that
accompany every principle. You have given me many unasked-for favors, and for
those I praise you, but the rule of the kingdom is this: ask to receive. That rule
applied even to you, as the King of the kingdom, because the Father told you,
Ps a. 2: 8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the
uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Lord, let me be much into asking things at your hands, because I have
never realized before how many blessings are suspended because of my lack
of prayer! Month after month things are withheldto my life, to my family, and
to our churchbecause I have not asked. Make me more earnest and
interested in prayer so you can give us revival!
You are withdrawn from my life when I restrain prayer. When I forget you,
I become cumbered about much serving (Luke 10:40). Only the cry that goes up to you
will restore your Spirits power. So Jesus, give me more of a spirit, an attitude, an
atmosphere of prayer. Amen.
A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING
Chronological Bible Reading: Isai ah 37- 39; 2 Thessal oni ans 2
Thursday, October 9
Josh. 23: 6 Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the
book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left;
I NEED Thee every hour, most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine can peace afford.
I need Thee every hour, stay Thou nearby;
Temptations lose their power when Thou art nigh.

I need Thee every hour, in joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide, or life is in vain.
I need Thee every hour; teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises in me fulfill.

I need Thee every hour, most Holy One;
O make me Thine indeed, Thou blessd Son.
I need Thee, O I need Thee; every hour I need Thee;
O bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee.

FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY
Chronological Bible Reading: Isai ah 40- 42; 2 Thessal oni ans 3
Friday, October 10
Ac t s 7: 60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin
to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
Gracious Father God:
! If you have prospered any among us who have now grown
comfortable, and forgotten the God who gave them what they have
! Or if you have brought any into poverty, and in their distress they
have not acted like they should
! Or if you have left any brother or sister to their own heart, and they
have played the fool
If any of us have grieved you, Oh lay not this sin to the charge of your
church! Lay it not to the charge of the offender either, but by a sweet forgiveness
being granted by your Spirit, let the whole church be made right with God.
Lord, we praise you that you have not taken away your blessing from us.
We rejoice in this, because every day you aid us. You have provided for all the
work of the church. Send prosperity to every ministry and quarter.
We fear and tremble Lord, for the goodness you make to pass over us. Our
heart is jealous with a godly jealousy for more, because then we are equipped to
aid believers in other places (through missionaries). Lord, grant us your holiness.
Allow us to be accepted in the beloved and you will have all the praise.
One other thing, Lord. If we are right with you, then help us be right in all
the daily transactions of our lives. Help us stay right with regard to your
providential dealings with us. Give patience to those who are being tried. Give
holy endurance to the sick and bereaved, and to all who suffer loss outside their
control. Be gracious to your children that we might not dishonor you during
affliction. Do this for Jesus sake and glory. Amen.
SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS
Chronological Bible Reading: Isai ah 43- 45; 1 Ti mot hy 1
Saturday, October 11
Ps a. 91: 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
Gracious God and Glorious Father:
You promise me not one guardian angel, but protection by all the angels.
These heavenly messengers make up my bodyguard, and their royal commission
is to watch carefully over my interests and my concerns.
He b. 1: 14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who
shall be heirs of salvation?
This is another reason why nothing can happen to me today apart from
your divine providence. I will probably be amazed when I finally learn about all
the multiplied interventions of your ministering spirits. I can conquer my strongest
and most deceitful enemy. I am able to live a charmed life, and evil forces of
darkness become harmless before your Spirit and your spirits. It is their feet that
crush my worst foes.
Rom. 16: 20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.
As an heir of heaven I am conscious of a divine presence in my hardest
trials. When I am suffering, you are always near in power as well as in sympathy.
You do not preserve me or rescue me in a way that would lower me or make me
feel degraded. Instead, your salvation bestows more honor on me by giving me
the assistance of your own ministering servants. So,
Ps a. 92: 1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto
thy name, O most High:
It is good ethically, because it is right. It is good emotionally, because it
strengthens my heart. It is good experientially, because it is a testimony to others.
I will praise you for your glorious benefits, my God! I will love and laud your
nameJesus, the name that calms my fears and bids my sorrows cease. Amen.

HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH

HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE

1) TIMEWORSHIP
Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.

2) TITHEWORK
1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as
God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions
asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.

3) TEAMWORD
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship
with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS
! Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God)
! Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of
walking with us)
! Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in
the Word)

PRAYER DIARY

" INTERCEDE WITH GOD " INSTRUCT SAINTS
" PROMPT PETITIONS " KICKSTART DEVOTION

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.
Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
