The work for the main task is possibly
incomplete. There is minimal evidence
in the work of the creative use of any
relevant technical skills such as:
Producing material appropriate for the
target audience and task;
showing understanding of conventions
of layout and page design;
showing awareness of the need for
variety in fonts and text size;
accurately using language and register;
using IT appropriately for the task set;
appropriately integrating illustration
and text;
shooting a variety of material
appropriate to the task set;
manipulating photographs as
appropriate to the context for
presentation! including cropping and
resizing.
The images taken for
the magazine are a
"uite irrelevant as
they don#t actually
indicate who they are
and what they are to
the school. The photo
shopped images are
"uite poorly done
and poorly placed.
$hen reading the
covers and the
contents page! the
content of it is
irrelevant to the
magazine. The font
sizes are not
consistent and
neither are the actual
fonts! it needs to
follow a consistent
house style.

There is evidence of a basi$ level of
ability in the creative use of some of the
following technical skills:
Producing material appropriate for the
target audience and task;
showing understanding of conventions
of layout and page design;
showing awareness of the need for
variety in fonts and text size;
accurately using language and register;
using IT appropriately for the task set;

The fonts used are very
e%ective as it looks like it
has been drawn by
someone! making the
school look creative.
&owever! to improve this
further! he could reduce
the size of the main cover
line so that it#s smaller
than the mast head! and
make the rest of the fonts
a little bit smaller as well
so that the main cover line
stands out more.
I also think that the '(ree
Pen) could be a di%erent
colour to the background.
&e could have also carried
on the house style that
was present on the cover
*he has a basic level
of skill for the use of
technology! there is
some clear
advancement in its
use! but a lot of the
cover page and
contents page is
un+nished! and there
is also a lot of blank
space that could
possibly +lled with
other forms of
content.
&e needs to make sure
that the text at the
bottom of the cover
page is all one size as
it varies over each
word! he also needs to
make sure that the
word ',une) starts with
a capital letter as well
as many other parts of
some cover lines.
&e has produced a
basic standard of a
school magazine that
is appropriate for the
target audience
which appears to be
very colourful. &e has
some understanding
of the layout and
understands the
codes and
conventions of a
school magazine! but
has left to much
space on the cover
page. The amount of
colour on the
contents page
however is a bit over
the top and some of
resizing.
page and carry it on within
the contents page -use
blue again not purple..
the colours clash with
each other to the
point where it#s "uite
unreadable! for
example the word
'*un) clashes with its
blue background.
*ome of the
language is relevant
and useful to the
magazine itself but
there is an
unnecessary use of
shortened words
such as 'Teacher) on
the front cover
suggesting that it
was "uite rushed.

*am has produced an
appropriate magazine
cover and contents cover
with the appropriate
images that clearly signify
that it is aimed at school
students. &e has clearly
showed his understanding
of the codes and
conventions of a magazine!
for instance the main cover
line 'The /esults are in) Is
in a bigger and bolder text
than any of the others.
*he has produced a
well laid out
magazine using
di%erent types of
images to represent
the fact that it is the
photography edition
of her school
magazine. *he has
shown clearly that
she understands the
layout of a
conventional
magazine and how
some of the images
are overlapping
others clearly shows
her creativity.
&owever! I think the
images used could
vary and have
something to do with
the other articles and
not 0ust photography.
&e#s shown a clear
understanding of the
codes and conventions
of a magazine and has
carried the colours
white and blue
throughout his house
style.

There is evidence of e*$ellen$e in the
creative use of most of the following
technical skills:
Producing material appropriate for the
target audience and task;
showing understanding of conventions
of layout and page design;
showing awareness of the need for
variety in fonts and text size;
accurately using language and register;
using IT appropriately for the task set;
appropriately integrating illustration
and text;
shooting a variety of material
appropriate to the task set;
manipulating photographs as
appropriate to the context for
presentation! including cropping and
resizing.
&e#s also used a variety of
images which could
possibly show the
characteristics of the
school! for instance in the
main image the school
appears to be "uite laid
back! yet in other images
such as the *cience article!
the school looks practical
and students appear to be
en0oying themselves.
I think the way he#s
presented the
contents page and
cover page clearly
shows that he has
thought professionally
and thoroughly about
how a school
magazine should be
presented. The articles
he has mentioned
clearly state that it is
aimed at pupils in a
secondary school. I
also like the fact that
he has taken an image
of the school logo on
the uniform and
continued to use it as
the background image
on the contents page!
and the image of the
head master -with
direct eye contact.
makes the magazine
seem more personal.
