1 PURPOSE
It is the aim of this Method Statement to define and describe the equipment and safety
procedures which are to be employed by the crane lifting company to carry out the lifting
operation. The operation will be carried out in accordance with the following Legislation &
Approved Codes of Practice.
BS7121 Safe Use of Cranes (part 1) 2006 General & (part 3) 2000 Mobile Cranes
Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH)

Scope
This method statement:
- Covers the methodology to be followed during lifting operation.
- Describes the responsibilities, procedure, calculations and safety measures associated with
lifting operation.

During the installation of work which are described in this document, below mentioned

5 DEFINITIONS
Load: 3,3 t
Load with safety factor = 3,3 x 1,5 = 4,95 t
Crane model : Liebherr LTM 1060/2
Crane capacity : 60 t
Maximum boom length: 42 m (without jip)
Lifting Capacity at operation = 7,2 t
Boom length in operation = 28,8 m
Force at each rope = 1,37 t
3,3 / 4 = 825 kg
825 * sin 53 = 1,37 t
Safety factor:
1,37 x 1,5 = 2,0 t
Rope capacity = 2 t
Shackle capacity = 2 t
6 RESPONSIBILITY & AUTHORITY
The lifting operation will be implemented by the Sub-Contractor that supplies the man power
and material under the supervision of employer.

Project responsibilities at execution level are as follows:
Project Director: Responsible for supervising and executing the project.
QA/QC Manager: Responsible for supervising and executing the quality of works on site.
E & M Project Manager: Responsible for the coordination of the project
Deputy Project Manager: Responsible for the implementation of the project.
Construction Manager: Responsible for the monitoring the works, supervision the application
of the E&M woks.
Site Engineer: Monitoring the works, supervision the application, planning the workforce
during installation.
Work Verification Engineer: Monitoring the works, supervision the application and verify that
executed work in compliance with ETS and documentations.
Site Technicians: Coordinate and controls the performed application done according to the
instruction given by Engineers and documentations.
Foremen/workman: Construct the defined works according to instructions and documents

The site engineer should verify that the site technicians /foreman with construction
responsibilities for the pipe welding works is familiar with this method statement .

Crane operator: Responsible for fallow the watchman instructions.
Watchman: Under the site engineers supervision observe the unsafe movements and gives
instruction to crane operator with the signing and radio. Watchman responsible for crane
operations under the method statement.
