For enterprise customers who want to roll out SMART collaboration software and are looking for reduced complexity in licensing, deploying, and maintaining SMART enterprise software products, the SMART Enterprise License Agreement Program (SELA) provides the ideal framework with maximum consistency and flexibility. With a single organization-wide agreement, the license management, pricing and terms are optimized for the needs of enterprise customers.
Q. What type of organization should use the SELA program? The SELA program is best suited for organizations who intend to standardize on SMART software for their visual collaboration needs. Especially when rolling out SMART Meeting Pro PE (Personal Edition) across an organization, SELA is an ideal way of managing the deployment with flexibility and ease.
Q. What benefits does SELA provide? The key benefits are: a single installation key for all installations of a SMART software product, one date for license renewals including software maintenance and one predictable price for each license.
Q. What products are available in the SELA program? The size of the order will determine the pricing and detailed benefits of SELA.
Getting started Q. How does a customer get started with the SMART Enterprise License Program? Before purchasing SMART Enterprise software products under the SELA program, a customer starts the enrollment process by contacting a local authorized SMART reseller or District Manager.
Q. What are the steps required to use the SMART Enterprise License Program? To utilize the SELA program, follow these steps: Register. Contact your SMART reseller or District Manager to request registration to the SELA program. You will be provided with a draft contract and your pricing scheme offer.
Order. After confirmation of signing the registration agreement, you place the intial order with your SMART reseller.
License key delivery. You will receive an e-mail notification with the software license keys for your individual agreement.
Download. You download the licensed software and deploy it according to the agreement.
Q. How does the timing of the SELA program work? SELA offers pricing and licensing benefits based on the initial purchase. A customers licensing program benefits apply for thirty six (36) consecutive months following its initial purchase and the customer will receive its SELA pricing and benefits on all qualified purchases made during this time.
Licensing and pricing Q. What is the minimum commitment required for the SELA program? The minimum commitment required for the SELA program is an order that includes a number of licenses for the SMART Meeting Pro software. For details, please contact your local authorized SMART reseller or SMART District Manager.
Q. Can I add my existing SMART software to a SELA agreement? Our Maintenance proration calculator can bring all your software maintenance renewals to one date. To benefit from the single activation key process in SELA, you need to manually change the activation keys in your currently installed (baseline) software and add these activations to your total number during the True-Up process.
Q. Can pricing change during the term of a SELA? The pricing for SELA is set for the entire term of the agreement. The True-Up process may bring pricing benefits when the number of deployed licenses qualifies you for a new pricing tier.
Q. What is the True-Up process? The True-Up process allows you to align your agreement with the actual number of licenses deployed. Before your annual SELA anniversary date, you must submit the total number of activations since your intial order or the last True-Up date. This True-Up will ensure you have the correct licenses and pricing for all your SMART software licensed in the SELA program.
Q. Do I own the licenses deployed in a SELA? All licenses deployed under the SELA program are valid perpetual licenses that the customer can use in perpetuity. At the end of the SELA Period, the customer can no longer legally deploy net new licenses and their licenses are no longer covered by Maintenance.
Q. Can affiliate companies benefit from SELA? Yes. You can enroll your affiliates to use one SELA for a global roll-out of SMART software. Affiliate companies can be in every country but need to controlled by you. Please contact your SMART reseller for more details.
Extensions, renewals and expiration Q. Can a SELA be extended beyond its initial term? Yes. Within one hundred and eighty (180) days of the end of the current SELA Term you may renew this SELA for an additional SELA Term with a qualifying order. SMART may make a change to this program that will make it necessary for Customer to enter into new agreements at the time of renewal.
Q. How long is the SELA term? The standard SELA term is three years (36 months).
Q. What happens when a SELA expires? When the SELA expires, the customer is no longer allowed to deploy new licenses. At that time, the customer can re-negotiate a new SELA or purchase smaller volume of units at standard prices through a SMART reseller. After the SELA term is over, SMART and the customer may chose to renew all or none of the licenses covered during the SELA.
Q. Can I cancel the SELA program during a term? Yes, the notice period to cancel a SELA is 180 days.
Other Q. Can I install SMART Meeting Pro Room software on non-SMART displays? Once you have entered a SELA agreement, you may request End User License Agreement (EULA) exceptions to install SMART Meeting Pro Room software on computers connected to non-SMART interactive hardware. You need a valid license for every display that is not covered by the SMART Meeting Pro EULA:
Q. Can I switch my reseller during a SELA term? Yes. You can decide which authorized SMART reseller you want to buy SMART products from.
Q. What happens if a product reaches end of life during a SELA term? You can use your perpetual licenses for the product for as long as you want. Software maintenance and support may be limited. Q.
