Truck of the Future 2050


Terms and Conditions
Volvo Trucks have launched a competition: Truck of the Future 2050.
Entrants are encouraged to focus on creative design solutions that incorporate truck safety
features and systems that will reduce environmental impact that may be required thirty-six
years from now.

Categories:
There are three age related entry categories:

Up to 11 years
11 to 18 years
Over 18 years

Entries are especially welcome from drivers, operators, truck enthusiasts and their families.
As Volvo Trucks has been a major employer, as well as an active supporter and provider of
training for young people for a career in the truck manufacturing industry since 1967, the
company is also inviting schools, colleges and universities to submit their entries for this
unique and exciting competition.
How to Enter:
Entrants to the Truck of the Future 2050 competition are invited to submit their designs on
email to marketinguk@volvo.com or by post to Design Competition, Volvo Trucks,
Wedgnock Lane, Warwick, CV34 5YA

All entries must be accompanied with an entry form, which is available on the
website: www.volvotrucks.co.uk/design

In addition to design visuals, each entry must also include a brief explanation of the thinking
behind its features. All entries must include sketches of the cab interior as well as the
vehicles exterior.


The Prize:
There will be one winner per category.

The winners, including parents or guardians for the children and young student categories,
will be invited, as guests of Volvo Trucks to take part in a prize giving presentation in the UK.
This will take place in the autumn.

The winners, accompanied by a parent or guardian if under 18, will then go on a once-in-a-
lifetime visit to meet the Volvo Trucks Design Team in Gothenburg, where they will see their
entries displayed in the Design Studio.

It is planned that the winners will visit Gothenburg during the week beginning 15
th
December
2014.

The prize trip to Gothenburg will include flights from a UK airport, transport in Gothenburg,
accommodation plus meals.

The Judging:
Members of Volvo Trucks UK and Sweden along with industry experts will form a judging
panel.

Entries will be judged according to the following criteria:
The design must be for a long-haul or regional distribution truck
The truck needs to be configured for the UK road network
This must be a truck for the year 2050 (ie safe and environmentally friendly)

Closing Date:
All entries must be received by Volvo Trucks before 5pm on Friday, 3
rd
October 2014.

Winner Announcement:
The winners will be announced by October 10
th
2014 and there will be a UK-based prize
giving ceremony, the date and location of which is to be confirmed.

Terms and Conditions
1. This competition is only open to residents of UK and Ireland (including UK and
Ireland based students)
2. Winners will be notified in writing by 10
th
October 2014. Please remember to provide
a return address if submitting your entry by post
3. The prize is non-transferable
4. There is no cash alternative to the prize
5. Children under 18 years of age cannot travel unless accompanied by an adult aged
18 or over. All travel is subject to the usual airline, visa and passport requirements
6. By entering this competition you grant to us a worldwide, perpetual, royalty free
licence of the intellectual property rights in the competition entry and waive any moral
and like rights
7. Unfortunately entries cannot be returned to you
8. In the event of any dispute, Volvo Trucks decision is final and no correspondence
will be entered into
9. The winners are responsible for paying any income tax due on the prizes
10. By entering the prize draw you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions
11. Winners will be promoted by Volvo Trucks via press and social media channels
