Purpose
This document gives procedures for installing IBM Informix

SDK 2.90 software on Solaris

workstations on The Mesh control network.
Software Requirements
The Informix software described in this document is provided solely for use on I/A Series systems.
Informix SDK 2.90 software can only be installed on Solaris workstations on The Mesh that have
I/A Series V8.3 or later software installed.
NOTE
If you have already installed the Informix Dynamic Server software, you do not
need to install Informix SDK 2.90 software. The SDK is installed automatically
during Informix Dynamic Server V10.0 software installation. See Informix Dynamic
Server V10.0 Installation Instructions (B0700DE) for procedures.
RBATCH II Software Users
Users of RBATCH II software should follow the instructions in I/A Series Release Notes for
RBATCH II for I/A Series V8.3 (B0193QN).

Installation
This document gives procedures to install Informix

SDK 2.90 software.

NOTE
The Informix SDK 2.90 software is intended for use only on Solaris 10 workstations
on The Mesh that have I/A Series V8.3 software installed.
NOTE
Do not install Informix SDK 2.90 software on workstations with the Informix
Dynamic Server installed. The SDK is installed automatically during Informix
Dynamic Server software installation, and reinstalling the SDK with the Dynamic
Server running may cause problems. See Informix Dynamic Server V10.0 Installation
Instructions (B0700DE).
The following is the procedure for installing the Informix SDK software. To perform the installa-
tion, you must be logged in as the user root.
Perform the following steps:
1. Log in as the user root:
su -
2. Mount the Informix SDK media:
mount -F hsfs -r /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /cdrom
(for a Sun Ultra

25 workstation)
3. Change directories to the CD-ROM:
cd /cdrom
4. Start the installation:
./installclientsdk
5. At the initial Welcome prompt:
Press Return to accept 1 for Next.
6. At the Software License Agreement prompt:
Press Return to display the license agreement.
Press 1 to accept the agreement.
Press Return to accept 1 for Next.
7. Use the directory name /opt/informix for installation.
If necessary, at the prompt type: /opt/informix.
Press Return to accept the displayed directory.
Press Return to accept 1 for Next.

8. Select the products for installation. The typical installation should be selected by
default.
Press 0 when finished.
Press Return to accept 1 for Next.
9. At the next prompt, verify the following:
The installation directory is /opt/informix
The installed features listed are:
Client
Messages
GLS
Press Return to accept 1 for Next.
10. The IBM Informix Client-SDK software installation begins, followed by the IBM
Informix Dynamic Server software installation.
11. At the successfully installed prompt:
Press Return to accept 3 for Finish.
12. Unmount the Informix media and remove the Informix 10 media from the CD-ROM
drive:
cd /
umount /cdrom.
