Discussion

Arcimedes principle states that for a body wholly or partially immersed in a fluid, the upward
buoyant force acting on the body is equal to the weight of the fluid it displaces. According to Archi
medes principle:
Buoyant forced = Weight of fluid displaced
Whenever a solid body is immersed in a fluid, it displaces a volume of fluid equal to its own
volume. Since the displaced fluid was in equilibrium with the surrounding fluid before being
displaced, meaning the buoyant force on the displaced fluid was equal to its weight, an equal
buoyant force will be exerted on the solid body. In other words, for any solid body the buoyant force
acting on it is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced.
Archimedes principle applies to a body wholly or partially immersed in a fluid. The
magnitude of the buoyant force depends only on the weight of the fluid displaced by the object and
does not depend on the weight of the object. Archimedes principle shows that an object
1. will float in a fluid if the density of the object 0 is less than the density of the
fluid
2. will sink if the objects density is greater than that of the fluids density
3. will float in equilibrium at any submerged depth where it is placed if its density is
equal to that of the fluid.

In the experiment we had done we immersed three different loads(plastic, aluminium and
copper) in the water that was filled in the overflow container.The results we got for all the loads that
was immersed in the water was stated below:
Plastic
2.296N-1.736N=0.560N
Aluminium
2.560N-1.736N=0.824N
Copper
2.266N-1.736N=0.530N
All the result above shows the weight of water displaced when they were immersed in the
water.

Wba=Weight of fluid and cylinder
Wb=Weight of beaker
Wba-Wb=Weight of water displaced
After that we calculate the value of buoyant force acting on object . The result was stated
below:
Plastic
0.850N-0.250N=0.600N
Aluminium
2.200N-1.250N=0.950N
Copper
4.700N-4.100N=0.600N
Lastly, we compared the data between buoyant force acting on object against value of wter
displaced. The result we got was stated below:
Plastic
0.600N-0.560N=0.040N
Aluminium
0.950N-0.824N=0.126N
Copper
0.600N-0.530N=0.070N
All the data above shows the results is zero and near to zero means that the weight of water
displaced is equal to the buoyant forced.

Conclusion
W1=Weight load in air
W2=Weight load in fluid
W1-W2=Buoyant force
Buoyant forced=Weight of water displaced
After analyse our data for long time, we conclude that the Archimedes Principle which states
that the force of upthrust exerted by a liquid on a body is equal to the weight of the liquid displaced
by the body when it is immersed in liquid is true. It is because all the results between buoyant force
against weight of water displacement is zero and near to zero.
