LETTER OF REFERENCE

November 22

, 2010
Dear Sir/Madammes,

I am privileged to introduce one of my most distinguished students Vicky - to your prestigious course
and scholarship. Vicky has been well-reputed among her peers and my staffs for the nickname of awards-
achiever. Witnessing her continuous development since initial days for about four years, I could easily
decode the underlying qualities behind her excellent academic accomplishments.

Admitted into our university with the highest result, Vicky quickly proved her academic abilities and
commitment to her studies, impressing most lecturers by her aspiration and intelligence. In her third
year, as her professor at Monetary and Banking, I had an opportunity to observe Vickys
performance in class. She distinguished herself among other students by quickly grasping new
concepts and principles, the ability which was attributed to her brilliant logical and critical thinking.
Her excellent quantitative and analytical ability led to outstanding answers and explanation for even
the most challenging questions in my lectures. I was also impressed by her professionalism and
thoroughness in approaching an issue when her group had a presentation: FED and its role in the
global financial crisis. She was very confident when presenting and stood out during Questions
and Answers discussion thanks to her insights into the problem. Her teammates often considered
her as an active, tenacious group leader with exceptional academic ability who assigned suitable
individual tasks to each of the member and encouraged them to work efficiently together. On the
one hand, she was very willing to take part in debates. On the other hand, she still stayed open and
took on board other perspectives to form her comprehensive view. I think this is a vital
characteristic for her current and future success most apparently illustrated by her first rank
among all peers at our university.

Nevertheless, Vicky expressed her potential most distinctly in researching. Deeply impressed by her,
I supervised her research with pleasure. She chose the topic An analysis of the stimulus
package of Vietnamese Government, a subject of controversy at that time due to the extremely
complicated economic situation. Her work was carefully and systematically conducted, which is rare
among Vietnamese undergraduate students. Not being confused by multitude of different points of
view, she presented her own outlook on the issues and some of her policy suggestions had been
proved to be feasible, practical and effective afterwards. Those achievements resulted from her firm
foundation on the chosen subject, blazing analytical ability and her working manner which never
satisfies with herself. Her written work was logically expressed, well-organized, concise but
comprehensive; thus it was granted the first prize of award among more than one hundred research
work at our university.

Despite her obvious academic abilities and commitment to studies, Huong is still very friendly,
humorous and caring to other students and staff alike. She also possesses enormous enthusiasm for
social activities, actively participating in organizing a number of events and contests for students.
Another strength of this girl is her excellent English: she used to conduct research and presented it
in English in a students workshop with the same quality as in Vietnamese.

Realizing Vickys potential abilities, I would like to recommend her to your course and scholarship
without reservation. Vicky, with her own qualities, passion, economic and financial background equipped
during 4-years at university, is inclined to obtain success and be a familiar face at your schools
academic commendation. Her knowledge would be of considerable benefit when she came back to work
at our university. If you would like further elaboration, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Le, Associate Professor., Dr.
Deputy Dean of Banking Department, University of.
