Compact Swing
Features & Functions
Why choose a Compact Swing automatic operator
To automate a set of doors sounds like a simple solution but in reality requires complex technology.
The Briton Compact Swing Door Operator was designed to make this process a straightforward task and ensure the system runs smoothly on a
day to day basis, whilst giving maximum convenience, comfort and safety to all its users.
The operator will maintain safe operation whilst carrying out its everyday function of allowing access through a door where it could be
cumbersome or inconvenient to operate manually.
A significant contribution towards energy savings can be expected. Therefore, the tried and tested Compact Swing operator is frequently used
for lobbies, entrances to workshops and cool rooms as well as for corridor doors.
Applications
The benefits of such a versatile system are particularly
noticeable in a range of applications such as;
Retail, Health, Education, and Transport, where the
environment requires doors to close promptly and
safely.
The Compact Swing operator helps building
owners and service providers to quickly, easily and
economically upgrade existing doors or new doors to
assist in meeting their obligations under the Disability
Discrimination Act and Doc M of The Building
Regulations, to make provision for disabled access.
The independant, surface mounted design provides
a quick and simple retrofit solution onto existing
doorways or any form of conventional timber, metal or
glazed door in a new-build application.

Compact Swing
Features & Functions
Design Simplicity
The operator combines visual and functional sophistication with robust performance. The innovative design brings together a slender modular
based system for precise installation giving a discreet appearance with smooth and quiet operation.
Being a totally self contained electromechanical device for surface applied applications it offers an exceptionally cost effective method of
automating new or existing double leaf or single leaf swing doors.
With an overall height of 115mm and depth of 123mm, the Compact Swing is designed to aesthetically fit onto most existing profiles. The
operator can be adapted on-site to suit a variety of door and frame widths, as the components are mounted onto an extruded backplate which
gives lateral adjustment of the drive mechanisms to achieve perfect alignment of the operator to the opening.
Two versions are available, using a slide track mounted on the door for fixing on the 'Pull' side of the door, or with projecting arms for fixing to
the 'Push' side.
Compact Swing Operator Features and Options
The features illustrated on the standard Compact Swing operator give precise door
control in all conditions. The internal microprocessor controller monitors the door
position at all times and allows simple adjustment of the door operating parameters
such as the opening and closing speeds. In addition, provision is made for extra
controls including the following functions and features:
Automatic operation mode (selectable option) allows the opening cycle to be
activated by either motion sensor, manually operated push pad/plate or via an
integrated access control device such as a card reader or PIN code
Push & Go (selectable option) allows simple operation without additional
activation devices. The opening cycle is initiated by gently pushing or pulling the
door
Manual operation allows the door to be easily operated as a standard manual
door whilst still giving smooth action over the door cycle
Power Boost (selectable option) in the final closing phase ensures the door
reaches the fully closed position to provide peace of mind that the door is secure
Adjustable opening speed and closing speed ensures a safe and flexible opening
cycle to suit different applications
Delayed action holding inhibits the closing cycle to allow slow moving traffic to
pass through. Hold-open time is adjustable up to 30 seconds
Additional safety sensors can be mounted on the door
- Safety stop halts the door when an object or person is in the opening or
closing arc to reduce the risk of potential accidents
Emergency egress allows the door to be opened manually
Above Left - Stylish charcoal grey, high impact thermoplastic end cap completes the overall aesthetic
Left - Unit with projecting arms for mounting on the 'Push'side of the door

Compact Swing Security & Safety
Finger Protection
British Standards (BS7036 Part 4: item 7.1 Finger
Traps) recommends the use of a finger guard that
either fills the finger trap with flexible rubber or
minimises the gap so as not to create a finger trap.
We have two unique features available:-
Flexible Finger Guard uses highly resilient flexible
PVC which prevents fingers from being inadvertently
inserted into the door gap at the hinged edge. The
unit is suitable for timber or metal doors, is easy to
install and is maintenance free. All fixings are neatly
concealed for an uncluttered appearance.
Rounded Safety Stile is designed as an integral part
of the door and frame construction for centre pivoted
doors. The gap between door and frame is fitted with
a brush seal which provides a high level of draught
prevention and creates an overall aesthetically pleasing
solution without being subject to wear and tear.
Ingersoll Rand Service
We operate a centrally controlled call centre with a
nationwide fleet of trained local engineers available
to provide a rapid response to your door repair, or to
maintain the safe efficient working of your door.
Security & Access
The operator will interface with existing or new access
control and electronic locking systems such as Card,
PIN or Proximity access control to simultaneously
release an electronic lock and activate the automatic
opening cycle. A wide selection of electromagnetic
locks and access controls compatible with the operator
are available from Ingersoll Rand. Please call us for
further information.
