S
teel is ever modern, steel is ever
up-to-date. Steel is devoid of
summer, steel is not afraid of winter.
Steel is favourable to the environment.
Steel is the subject of our work, it is the
source of our inspiration.
Therefore we have decided to edit the
INFORMA magazine, main topic of
which would be steel. It is meant for all of
you who have already been or will
become - as we already are - the steel
fanciers. We are sure that INFORMA
architects, possibilities of technology to
manufacture steel constructions and fire
proof roof and facade claddings will be
presented. We will present you the com-
plete solutions, enabled by TRIMO busi-
ness process, in compliance with ISO
9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
In other words, INFORMA is here to fire
your imagination. To show you what new
and wonderful things you can do with
steel.
During this year we will prepare more
editions of INFORMA magazine, the first
is already in front of you. All of you, who
would like to cooperate and to contribute
articles to our magazine, are invited to
call us on the phone number 068/460
319, or to mail us on our address
info@trimo.si. We will be glad to receive
your articles, which will be published in
the INFORMA magazine.
We hope you will read the magazine
with pleasure.

magazine will be an interesting reading
for architects, designers, TRIMO business
partners and for all who would like to
reveal the secrets of quality pre-fabricat-
ed constructing.
One of the main intentions of the maga-
zine is to show the possibilities that steel
can offer us. The creative possibilities will
also be shown. Projects, made on the
base of cooperation between thoughts of
tive building. The right solution seemed to
be the choice of technology of TRIMO
facade panels, which made possibility of
either horizontal or vertical division of
the facade. The use of panels has assured
a modern appearance of the building
and at the same time simplicity of the
building volume, and due to perfect
execution of details, particularly the cor-
ner, the building became a technologi-
caly perfect product.
The latter brings the construction of
buildings closer to technology of
automobile design by drawing paralels
between basic demands for a perfect
appearance, absence of the decorative,
and taking away of the redundant parts.
The manufacturing technology of con-

his development has replaced the
facade shaping as the formal
composition of classical architectual
shapes, which has lost its meaning by the
wane of postmodernism. The meaning of
light and shadow, structure and texture as
a skeleton and skin is standing out
instead.
The latter has, as the principle of design
of cladding and structure of a building,
emerged in the early 20 century, but it
was not until the advance of present
technology enabled the cladding of a
building to acquire a more independent

and perfect articulation of the
architectual idea of a building.
As I have mentioned at the beginning, the
introducing of an idea of architectual
object in present times is focused mostly
on texture and choice of material. This
means that the choice of technology,
ensuring the perfectness of execution and
at the same time articulation of the
selected material is becoming more and
more significant.
At designing the shopping centre
Emporium it was necessary to convert the
old industrial hall into a modern, attrac-

shaping and texture of material, which articulates the architectual
form of a building.

structing is nearing to demands and the
spirit of time, where the intimacy of living
is a more appreciated value. Because of
this I see the significant part of such
technology also in housing construction.
I think, it would be very interesting to
make an experiment by constructing a
dwelling house with cladding, made com-
pletely of TRIMO pre-fabricated panels.
Living of a modern man is the same as a
car ride, where we would like to have a
soft, intimate interior and a hard shell,
approaching the abstract by taking off
the decorative.
A building is thus becoming a product of
modern technology.

th
A
facade of a building should have
complete integrity, where all the ele-
ments act as being in harmony with
one another. Contours have a special
influence on appearance. They can be
markedly stressed or softly formed with the
rest of facade. By introducing the rounded
corner on a TRIMO facade we have tried
to achieve the effect of softly formed
appearance.
This novelty presents a changed to the
method of treating corner endings. Previous
solutions mostly covered the corner joint of
facade with an extra flashing element. Such
element did not unite with the facade since
it had different manufacturing technology,
and, although it was of the same colour
and material as the rest of facade, it
looked disturbing.
A new solution - the rounded corner is of
identical materials as the rest of facade. It is
now possible to match the colour shade
and structure of the material. Roundness in
radius of 8 cm gives the corner a rounded
and flowing of neighbouring surfaces.
The rounded corner is factory-made and is
such delivered to the building site. Its stan-
dard outer radius is 8 cm for all panel
widths. It is also possible to make a bigger
radius. Length of one element is up to 14 m.
It is possible to use the rounded corner on
fasades with vertical laying of elements,
as well as with the combination of hori-
zontaly laid facade panels and verticaly
laid corner. The corner is suitable also for
using it on some other details, such as attika
at horizontaly laid facade. Beautiful archi-
tectural effects could be reached by com-
bining the rounded corner with the hidden
fastening of the aluminium profile.

he panels are distinguished by
aesthetically perfect appearance, high
fire resistance and excellent
thermal insulating qualities. Such panels
were used for the first time on the high-tech
warehouse of the UNION brewery. The
system of hidden fastening was used to
give the building a modern architecture
appearance. The above mentioned system
of fastening is also suitable for cladding of
brick and concrete walls. Using this system
we can increase the thermal insulation of
the wall and improve the appearance of
the building.
At the execution of the roof TRIMO roof-sys-
tem has been used, as follows: SNV roof
panels with the mechanicaly fastened final
hydro-insulating foil on. The system has met
all the expectations in a sense of good
load-bearing capacity, tightness, functional-
ity, and fast execution.

Trends in architecture and market demands have lead us into
development and production of new panels with microlined profilation.
A very fast technological and information development in the last
few years has essentially interfered with the traditional way of
object planning and predicting building structure and form.

analyses, KRETZ for analyses of linking
systems, KLIETSCH for analysing details
and subsystems,...) and the use of effi-
cient and fast computers have changed
the means of prediction rapidly.
There is more and more passing on
analyses of complete systems, to enable
the exact inventory of real situation and to
keep all the interaction relations among
individual subsystems and elements.
Modern and more difficult analyses are
being used (fully plastificated cross-sec-
tions, methods of plastic sections, meth-
ods of cooperative widths at thin cross-
sections, accurate theory of II order, link-
ing systems,...). Also the complex
inventory of individual subsystems has
been introduced, to enable the execu-
tions of simpler constuctional solutions (as
an example purlin - roof cladding). Use of
new European regulations, to uniform all
the phases and segments of prediction,
will be a big step forward. A completely
new accession will, at prediction of earth-
quake safe objects, require moving on to
dynamic analyses and to necessary use
of modern and efficient software equip-

Accession to modern projecting
I
n the past, there were several limita-
tions, making impossible for designer
to work out fast, rational and quality
projects. Freedom of architects, as well,
was essentially limited. The development
of modern and quality software equip-
ment (SOFISTIK for global and complex
ment. The altered understanding of fire
safety of the object allows fire simulation
in the form of additional loading on the
construction.
From the viewpoint of more competitive
position and of time shortening from pro-
ject to execution, simple and rational solu-
tions are needed, beeing at the same time
also typified. More and more important is
also the cooperation between architects
and statics in the phase of planning the
object. So we are close to rational and
formaly perfect constructions.
The real accession to the modern project-
ing enables us very rational prediction on
one side and prediction of most difficult
projects and execution of most daring
ideas of architects on the other side.
