Lab: Exchange 2010 Setup, Deployment, and Server
Role Configuration
During this lab, you will learn how to set up Microsoft

Exchange 2010 by using the


Exchange Setup Wizard. You will also learn how to configure the various Exchange 2010
server roles.
Estimated time to complete this lab: 90 minutes
What you will learn
After completing the exercises, you will be able to:
Install Exchange 2010 by using the user interface (UI).
Understand basic server role configuration.

Scenario

Contoso Ltd., a small gourmet food distribution company, has made a decision to upgrade
from Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 to Exchange 2010. The company wants to install
Exchange 2010 on a single server. Contoso Ltd. must make sure that the server is adequately
prepared and that their network environment meets the prerequisites for a new Microsoft
Exchange installation.
You currently have Exchange Server 2007 installed in your organization. In this lab, you will
install your first Exchange 2010 server.
The following prerequisite software has been installed to prepare the Exchange server and
organization for Exchange 2010. These prerequisites may change between now and the
release of Exchange 2010. Before installing Exchange, verify that your Exchange 2010 server
and organization meet the current prerequisites.

Exchange 2010 prerequisites
2007 Office System Converter: Microsoft Filter Pack (FilterPackx64.exe) has been installed
on the Exchange server EX2-1-
Server roles and features prerequisites
The following prerequisite command has been performed on the Exchange server EX2010:
Add-WindowsFeature NET-Framework,RSAT-ADDS,Web-Server,Web-Basic-Auth,Web-
Windows-Auth,Web-Metabase,Web-Net-Ext,Web-Lgcy-Mgmt-Console,WAS-Process-
Model,RSAT-Web-Server,Web-ISAPI-Ext,Web-Digest-Auth,Web-Dyn-Compression,NET-
HTTP-Activation,RPC-Over-HTTP-Proxy,Desktop-Experience -Restart
And the .NET TCP Port Sharing service has been set to Automatic startup.

Exercise 0: Preparing the Lab Environment
In this exercise, you will prepare the lab environment by connecting to the necessary virtual
machines using the Microsoft Windows Server

2008 Hyper-V Manager.


Scenario
This lab uses Exchange 2010 Ignite Set A Snapshot 1 and requires the following virtual
machines:
Set A-DC01 Domain Controller, Domain Name System (DNS), certification
authority (CA) with 512 megabytes (MB) of memory
Set A-EX2007 Exchange Server 2007 SP2 with 1536 MB of memory
Set A-EX2010 WS2008 with 1536 MB of memory
Set A-Client01 WS2008 Vista Experience with 1024 MB of memory
Tasks
1. Turn off all virtual machines.
a. On the host computer, switch to the Hyper-V Manager. If it is not already
open, click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Hyper-V
Manager.
b. In Hyper-V Manager, select all Set A virtual machines that are running, and
then in the Actions pane, click Turn Off.
c. Click Turn Off.
2. Apply the snapshot.
a. In Hyper-V Manager, in the Virtual Machines window, click Set A-DC01.
b. In the Snapshots window, right-click Snapshot 1 and then click Apply.
c. In the Apply Snapshot dialog box, click Apply.
d. Repeat steps a through c for Set AEX2007, Set AEX2010, and Set A-
Client01.
3. Start the Set A-DC01 virtual machine.
a. In Hyper-V Manager, in the Virtual Machines window, right-click Set A-
DC01 and then click Start.
b. Right-click Set A-DC01 and then click Connect.
Wait for this virtual machine to fully start up before continuing.
4. Start and log on to the Set A-EX2007 virtual machine.

a. In Hyper-V Manager, in the Virtual Machines window, right-click Set A-
EX2007 and then click Start.
b. Right-click Set A-EX2007 and then click Connect.
c. On the Set A-EX2007 Virtual Machine Connection, click the
CTRL+ALT+DELETE button on the toolbar.
d. Log on as Contoso\Administrator with a password of pass@word1
5. Start and log on to the Set A-EX2010 virtual machine.
a. In Hyper-V Manager, in the Virtual Machines window, right-click Set A-
EX2010 and then click Start.
b. Right-click Set A-EX2010 and then click Connect.
c. On the Set A-EX2010 Virtual Machine Connection, click the
CTRL+ALT+DELETE button on the toolbar.
d. Log on as Contoso\Administrator with a password of pass@word1
6. Start and log on to the Set A-Client01 virtual machine.
a. In Hyper-V Manager, in the Virtual Machines window, right-click Set A-
Client01 and then click Start.
b. Right-click Set A-Client01 and then click Connect.
c. On the Set A-Client01 Virtual Machine Connection, click the
CTRL+ALT+DELETE button on the toolbar.
d. Log on as Contoso\Holly with a password of pass@word1

Exercise 1: Preparing Active Directory for Exchange 2010
In this exercise, you will prepare Microsoft Active Directory

Domain Services (AD DS)


with the schema updates needed by Microsoft Exchange 2010. You will then configure
global Exchange objects in AD DS, create security groups in the root domain, and prepare
the current domain for Exchange 2010.
Tasks
1. Prepare the Active Directory schema for the Exchange installation.
This command connects to the schema master and imports Lightweight Directory
Access Protocol (LDAP) Data Interchange Format (LDIF) files to update the schema
with Exchange 2010specific attributes.
a. On Ex2010, on the Hyper-V menu, click Media, point to DVD Drive, and
then click Insert Disk.
b. Browse to C:\labfiles\ISO\, click Exchange2010.iso, and then click Open.
c. Close the AutoPlay window.
d. Click Start, and then click Command Prompt.
e. At the command prompt, type the following and then press ENTER:
D:\setup /PrepareSchema
f. Read the message about agreeing to the license terms and then do not press
any keys to allow setup to continue.
This process will take about 4-6 minutes.
g. Verify that the setup operation completed successfully.
2. Prepare the AD DS forest for the Exchange installation.
This command configures global Exchange objects in AD DS, creates security groups
in the root domain, and prepares the current domain for Exchange 2010.
a. On EX2010, at the command prompt, type the following and then press
ENTER:
D:\setup /PrepareAD
b. Read the message about agreeing to the license terms and then do not press
any keys to allow setup to continue.
This process will take about 3-5 minutes.

c. Verify that the setup operation completed successfully.

Note:
Running Setup /PrepareAD also prepares the local domain for Exchange. To
prepare a domain other than the local domain, run Setup
/PrepareDomain:<domain name>. To prepare all domains in your organization
run Setup /PrepareAllDomains.

d. Close the command prompt.

Exercise 2: Installing Exchange 2010 Using the User Interface
In this exercise, you will use the Exchange 2010 Installation Wizard to install a new
Exchange server in the existing organization.
Tasks
1. Install Exchange 2010.
a. On EX2010, open Windows Explorer.
b. Navigate to D:\ and double-click Setup.exe.
c. In the Exchange 2010 Installation Wizard, notice the five steps listed under
Install:
Step 1: Install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 - Installed
Step 2: Install Windows PowerShell v2 Installed
Step 3: Choose Exchange language option
Step 4: Install Microsoft Exchange
Step 5: Get critical updates for Microsoft Exchange
The links for steps 1 through 2 Install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and
Install Windows PowerShell v2 are grayed out because these
prerequisite components have already been installed.
d. In the Exchange 2010 Installation Wizard, under Install, click Step 3:
Choose Exchange language option, and then click Install only
languages from the DVD.
e. Click Step 4: Install Microsoft Exchange.
Wait for files to be copied to the temp directory.
f. In the Exchange 2010 Setup Wizard, on the Introduction page, click Next.
g. On the License Agreement page, click I accept the terms in the license
agreement, and then click Next.
h. On the Error Reporting page, verify that No is selected, and then click Next.
i. On the Installation Type page, select Custom Exchange Server
Installation, and then click Next.
j. On the Server Role Selection page, select the Mailbox Role, Client Access
Role, Hub Transport Role, and then click Next.
k. On the Configure Client Access server external domain page, select The
Client Access server role will be Internet-facing check box.

l. In the Enter the domain name field, type mail.contoso.com and then
click Next.
m. On the Customer Experience Improvement Program page, click I dont wish
to join the program at this time and then click Next.
n. On the Readiness Checks page, wait for the Prerequisites check to complete
and then click Install.
The installation may take 15-20 minutes to complete.
o. After all roles have been installed, verify that the Finalize installation
using the Exchange Management Console check box is selected, and then
click Finish.
p. After the Exchange Management Console starts, switch to the Exchange 2010
Installation Wizard and then click Close.
q. In the Confirm Exit dialog box, click Yes.
r. Close Windows Explorer.

Exercise 3: Reviewing the Mailbox Server Role
In this exercise, you will:
Review new features in the Exchange Management Console.
Review the Exchange 2010 database locations.
Create a new mailbox on Exchange 2010.
Log on to the new Exchange 2010 mailbox using Microsoft

Office Outlook

Web App
(OWA).
Send a message to an Exchange Server 2007 mailbox.
Verify that the Exchange Server 2007 mailbox received the e-mail message by using
Microsoft Outlook 2010.
Tasks
1. View the server configuration in Exchange Management Console.
a. On EX2010, switch to the Exchange Management Console.
b. In the Navigation pane, expand Microsoft Exchange On-Premise, and
then click Server Configuration.
c. In the Results pane, under Server Configuration, right-click Ex2010 and
then click Properties.
What roles have been installed?
d. Click Cancel.
e. In the Actions pane, click Manage Diagnostic Logging Properties.
f. Review the available logging options and then click Cancel.
g. In the Actions pane, under EX2010, click Manage Mailbox Role.
Has a database been created?
2. Use ADSIEdit to view the locations of databases.
a. On EX2010, click Start, click Run, type adsiedit.msc and then press ENTER.
b. In the Active Directory Service Interface (ADSI) Edit management console, in
the Navigation pane, right-click ADSI Edit and then click Connect to.
c. In the Connection Setting window, click the Select a well known Naming
Context drop-down list, select Configuration, and then click OK.
d. Back on the ADSI Edit management console, click Configuration
[DC01.Contoso.com].
e. Navigate to Configuration >CN=Configuration,DC=Contoso,DC=com
>CN=Services >CN=Microsoft Exchange >CN=First Organization

>CN=Administrative Groups >CN=Exchange Administrative Group
>CN=Servers >CN=Ex2010 >CN=Information Store
Notice that there is no information in the Results pane.
Note:
There is no information store listed because information stores are no longer
bound to a server. An information store can be active on any Exchange server in
the organization.

f. Navigate to Configuration >CN=Configuration,DC=Contoso,DC=com
>CN=Services >CN=Microsoft Exchange >CN=First Organization
>CN=Administrative Groups >CN=Exchange Administrative Group
>CN=Servers >CN=Ex2007 >CN=Information Store >CN=First Storage
Group
Notice that there is a database listed in the Results pane, (CN=Mailbox
Database).
Note:
Previous versions of Exchange have information store databases associated
directly with the server.

g. Navigate to Configuration >CN=Configuration,DC=Contoso,DC=com
>CN=Services >CN=Microsoft Exchange >CN=First Organization
>CN=Administrative Groups >CN=Exchange Administrative Group
>CN=Databases
Notice that there is a database listed in the Results pane.
Note:
The mailbox database for EX2010 is defined here.

h. Close ADSIEdit.
i. Switch to the Exchange Management Console.
j. In the Navigation pane, expand Organization Configuration and then click
Mailbox.
k. In the Results pane, under Database Management, notice the Mailbox
Database listed here.
3. Verify that the new installation complies with best practices (optional).

a. On EX2010, in the Exchange Management Console, in the Navigation pane,
click Toolbox.
b. In the Results pane, double-click Best Practices Analyzer.
c. On the Update and Customer Feedback page, select Do not check for
updates on startup, select I dont want to join the program at this time,
and then click Go to Welcome Screen.
d. On the Welcome page, click Select Options for a new scan.
e. On the Connect to Active Directory page, verify that the Active Directory
Server field lists DC01, and then click Connect to the Active Directory
server.
f. On the Start a New Best Practices scan page, under Specify the scope for
this scan, click Unselect all.
g. Under Specify the scope for this scan, select the EX2010 check box.
h. Verify that Health Check is selected and then click Start Scanning.
Wait for the Best Practices Analyzer tool to scan Ex2010.
i. When the scan has completed, click View a report of this Best Practices
scan.
j. In View Best Practices Report, click the All Issues tab.
Browse through the issues listed.
Did the scan report any critical issues?
k. Click Export Report.
l. In the Export Report window, in the File Name field, type C:\Contoso-
Post-Install-report
m. In the Save as type drop-down list, select HTM and then click Save.
n. Click the Informational Items tab and review the detailed information that
was gathered.
o. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\, and then double-click Contoso-
Post-Install-report.html.
p. View the report.
q. Close Microsoft Internet Explorer

and Windows Explorer.


r. Close the Microsoft Exchange Best Practice Analyzer.
s. Leave the Exchange Management Console running.

Exercise 4: Creating a New User and Testing Coexistence
In this exercise, you will create a new user named Adam Barr with a mailbox on the
Exchange 2010 server. You will then log on to Client01 as Holly Holt and connect to Adams
Exchange 2010 mailbox using Outlook Web App. Adam will then send a test message to
Hollys mailbox on Exchange Server 2007. Finally, you will open Outlook 2010 to access
Hollys Exchange Server 2007 mailbox and verify that the message from Adam was received.
Tasks
1. Create a new user named Adam Barr with a mailbox on EX2010.
a. On EX2010, in the Exchange Management Console, click Recipient
Configuration.
b. In the Actions pane, click New Mailbox.
c. On the Introduction page, verify that User Mailbox is selected and then
click Next.
d. On the User Type page, verify that New user is selected and then click Next.
e. On the User Information page, in the First name field, type Adam
f. In the Last name field, type Barr
g. In the User logon name field, type Adam
h. In the Password and Confirm password fields, type pass@word1 and then
click Next.
i. On the Mailbox Settings page, in the Alias field, type Adam
j. Select the Specify the mailbox database rather than using a database
automatically check box, and then click Browse.
k. In the Select a Mailbox Database window, verify that the database associated
with server EX2010 is selected, click OK, and then click Next.
l. On the Archive Settings page, click Next.
m. On the New Mailbox page, click New.
n. On the Completion page, verify that the mailbox was created successfully
and then click Finish.
o. Close the Exchange Management Console.
2. Test coexistence message delivery.
a. Switch to Client01 logged on as Contoso\Holly.
b. Click Start and then click Internet Explorer.

c. In the Address field, type https://ex2010.contoso.com/owa
d. On the There is a problem with this websites security certificate page, click
Continue to this website.
The Exchange 2010 server is currently configured with a self-signed
certificate created at installation and is not trusted by Client01.
e. On the Outlook Web App page, log on as Contoso\Adam with a password
of pass@word1
f. On the Outlook Web App page, click OK.
g. In Outlook Web App (OWA), in Adams Inbox, click New.
h. On the There is a problem with this websites security certificate page, click
Continue to this website.
i. On the Untitled Message page, click Options.
j. In the Message Options window, select the Request a delivery receipt for
this message and Request a read receipt for this message check boxes,
and then click OK.
k. In the To field, type Holly Holt and then press CTRL+K to resolve the e-
mail address.
l. In the Subject field, type We have Exchange Server 2010! and then click
Send.
3. View the message from Adam Barr.
a. On Client01, click Start and then click Microsoft Outlook 2010 (Beta).
b. In Outlook, click the test message from Adam Barr.
c. In the Outlook ribbon bar, click Reply.
d. In the Microsoft Outlook dialog box, review the read receipt request and
then click Yes.
e. In the message body, type Thats terrific news Adam and then click Send.
f. Switch to OWA logged on as Adam Barr, expand the message conversation
view, and verify that Adam received the read receipt and Hollys reply
message.
Note:
Due to virtualization, it is possible that the delivery of this test message will take
a few minutes.

g. Close Internet Explorer.

h. Close Outlook.
